Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of One Touch Automatic Jar OpenerCustomer Review: Didn't Work At All Summary: 1 Stars
I bought mine at CVS. Put in fresh batteries. Tried to open a can of tuna. It cut for a couple of seconds, then died. I followed the directions, including those for how to remove it, if it got stuck. It wouldn't remove. I ended up throwing it out, because I didn't want to take a stinky can of tuna back to the store. I did tell them, and they did not offer to reimburse me. No more, AS SEEN ON TV products for me. Twenty dollars thrown into the trash along with my tuna.
Customer Review: Cheap plastic parts don't hold up over time Summary: 1 Stars
I got both the can opener and the jar opener and as many others have stated the can opener is phenomenal and works really well. The jar opener worked about 6 times and when I tried to open a 3-inch jar (it says it will open a 4-inch jar) a plastic part on the portion that grips the jar broke and it was no longer usable. I would rate this a one-star as 6 uses for $20 isn't a very good track record!
Customer Review: Self Destructs - Difficult Battery Replacement Summary: 1 Stars
I have owned 2 and both self-destructed. The first lasted long enough to require a battery replacement (probably 20 openings) which was almost impossible due to the design. That one broke a plastic part shortly thereafter. The second jar opener self-destructed on the 5th jar. The same plastic part broke on it which indicates an inherent weakness in the design and material.
Customer Review: Worked fine, then broke after a month Summary: 1 Stars
It was discouraging to see that others had a similar experience to mine. The product worked fine a few times, but after only a few jars the inner clamp broke. (I then opened the jar by hand, so it wasn't the jar's fault!) This happened on both the one I used and the one I bought for my mother.
Good idea but wait for a new, improved model. One Touch Jar Opener
Customer Review: Worked well, then Broke. Summary: 1 Stars
I purchased the onetouch Jar opener on 17 Dec 2007.
My wife loved it.
But it broke two months later after opening only three jars.
The inner jaws (plastic) slipped and broke on a simple 3.5 inch jar..
The warranty was for only one month.
Now I see why.
