Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Healthy Juicer - Manual Hand Powered Wheatgrass Juicer - Wheat grass juicer

Customer Review: Basically very satisfied, a couple minor issues.
Summary: 4 Stars

Overall I am very happy with this item. I am not sure why some people have trouble assembling it; I found the assembly so intuitive that I hardly needed the instructions. Easy to use, too. I only juice wheatgrass in it, but it does that with little effort and minimal problems.

The issues I have had are as follows. The screw is designed to push everything forward towards the grinders, but the juice is supposed to flow the other way to a drain at the back. I find that about 60% of the juice flows out the front - where the spent grass is expelled. Not a huge deal if you have a cup underneath, but it was a rather messy learning experience when I first used it. Also the suction cup base has let me down a couple times. If my counter allowed the use of the clamp I would be sure to use it. As it is, it is just something I keep in mind. I can easily hold it in place with one hand while cranking with the other. Again, not a major problem beyond the initial hard-earned lesson.

One thing that I think might be affecting some peoples perception is that the juicer does seem VERY sensitive to quantity. If you under load it, it is terribly inefficient. If you over load it, it is difficult to crank (also it leaks more at the front and the suction cup is more likely to break free). A couple times I could tell that I got it perfect: when I did the handle turns easy and the juice flows like water. I am still learning where the limits on that are, but it's something to keep in mind.

Customer Review: Awesome Juicer, but could be improved
Summary: 4 Stars

I love this juicer.

I can't say enough about it.

Pros:

Easy to use
Quick to assemble and disassemble
Easy to clean
Efficient
Well made

Cons:

Too much plastic, the receiving vessel should be made of glass, in mine it seems that the combination of vegetable juices has actually corroded it, I don't want plastic in my juice. There should be more metal inside the unit. basically the unit should be made of heavy glass and metal, not plastic. Unfortunately due to the special shape of the receiving vessel there's little chance of substituting your own container for the provided one.

Some veggies are hard to juice without helper vegetables. For example celery tends to sit at the end of the auger and spin in place instead of being forced in to the juicer, so you must use something hard like a carrot to force it through. This is a problem because most hard veggies are packed with sugar, something I don't want to make up much of my juice. That is just one example, you will get used to it after a while but it's still a bit of a pain.

Overall this is one of the best juicers out there. Way more efficient than a centrifugal, wayyy cheaper than a comparably efficient powered auger type. With a few changes to design it would be the best manual juicer I've ever seen, actually it already is!

Customer Review: Excellent wheat grass juice extraction.
Summary: 4 Stars

I ordered this to supplement my Champion Juicer which can't handle wheat grass. I would give the healthy juicer 5 stars for being very good at extracting juice from wheat grass but I will ding it slightly for 2 reasons: Although it performs very well with wheat grass and leafy vegetables the promo should not have carrots etc listed as vegetables to juice with this juicer. A hammer would probably work better on carrots! The box it comes in shows wheat grass and leafy vegetables only and they should stick to that in their promo pictures. The only other negative is that I can't imagine it lasting very long due to all the plastic parts but I could be wrong. The positives: I've used it twice for wheat grass and it's utterly remarkable how well it extracts juice. It's very easy to set up and clean...just make sure you have the right size counter top or other base to attach it to or you'll have to make one or improvise somehow. If I wasn't on such a tight budget I would probably have gone with the manual "Miracle" stainless steel juicer or similar stainless product. I would stay away from electric models as they don't extract as well as a manual and they generate more enzyme destroying heat as well. If this one breaks within 6 months of daily use I'll update a review and probably step up to a stainless steel model for $110 plus.

Customer Review: Amazing Juicer for the Low price
Summary: 4 Stars

I did some research for a few days on buying the right wheatgrass and leafy green juicer.
I have a small kitchen, so no room for a large electric one.
I didn't want to spend much money either.
I was so surprised at how much fun this juicer is.
I pulled it out of the box, snapped it together and started with my wheat grass.
It is a clever little machine. It does a great job squeezing all the pulp out of whatever you put in there.
I made Wheat grass, Collard Green and Carrot Juice already.
I can't wait to make some more!!

The few cons that I see are the many parts that are involved.
I wish it came with some kind of container to house everything in, that way you wouldn't loose all the little pieces.
Also, there is some juice that leaks out of the front nozzle where the pulp is extracted from.
That make a little bit of a mess.

I also love the suction cup feature.
I wasn't crazy about having a vice on my counter top.
This one has the suction and the vice.
You definitely don;t need the vice for the leafy greens.

Customer Review: Happygrass
Summary: 4 Stars

This juicer is great. It is really easy to use and clean. I found that if you crank the handle going forward several turns and then a do a few turns backwards you get more juice from the grass but overall the grass comes out dry so it juices really well. You should realize that it takes quite a bit of grass to get a full two ounces but I have very easily been able to juice a nice 1 oz shot every day with minimal clean up. This is really easy to assemble and keep clean. I wash it after a couple of juices for convenience every other day. It works best if it is clamped to a counter or table for stability.

I am very happy with this product and it really beats paying $2.50 per day for a shot and having to drive from place to place to find wheatgrass.
