Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Lello 4070 Gelato JuniorCustomer Review: Great Ice Cream Maker Summary: 5 Stars
I had been interested in the Lello ice cream maker for awhile. I had a Cuisinart ice cream maker and found the need to pre-freeze the container rather a hindrance. I had looked at the reviews for the Lello and the new electric Cuisinart and decided to go with the Lello after finding a good deal on Amazon. The machine is better than expected. I had read about the noise and was concerned, but the noise is no louder than that of the Cuisinart pre-freeze machine. I have found that I need to run the machine longer about 5 to 10 minutes longer than the suggested time but that is truly the only draw back. Some of the reviews mentioned the size of the machine. I do have a large kitchen so space is not a problem, although I can see that it would be a problem for those with a small kitchen. The quality of the ice cream is great - very creamy. I have enjoyed the machine and appreciate an ice cream maker that doesn't require a pre-frozen canister. I would definitely recommend the Lello to anyone interested in this type of ice cream maker.
Customer Review: Lello 4070 Gelato Junior Summary: 5 Stars
My wife and I LOVE the machine. We have tried several of the recipes that came with it and have invented many of our own. PRO's: It makes small batches, it is really easy to clean, it does not need salt and ice, it does not take up much room on the counter. It is also reasonably quick. CON'S:No real problems but be aware it does not make a two (2) liquid cup batch in 25 minutes - like the manual says, repeatedly. I make the mix in the Gelato Junior container and put it in the freezer for 20 - 30 minutes. It will then take about 35 - 40 minutes for a two (2) liquid cup batch. I have not experimented with a one cup liquid batch. The manual does say that to speed up the freezing cycle use smaller batches. We use the machine several times a week. The first unit purchased had a few problems which I believe were the result of rough handling during shipping. Amazon replaced it almost overnight. Amazon is good to deal with that way. If you buy this machine plan to add more exercise to your life because you ARE going to eat more ice cream!!!
Customer Review: Excellent product Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this ice cream maker because I did not want to deal with the other types of makers that either require ice and salt (too messy) or the types which you have to put a bowl into the freezer (takes up too much freezer space and they don't freeze the ice cream well).
The machine is well built and is easy to operate. The instruction manual contains many different frozen dessert and drink recipes. The only issue i have is with the "add in" slot where mix-ins are put. It is rather small, but I was able to work around this problem by setting the timer to go off before the ice cream was fully frozen, taking off the top, and adding the mix-ins.
After trying the ice cream maker, I was very impressed with the quality of the ice cream that was produced and at the speed at which the ice cream froze. It is also very quiet when in operation. Even though it only makes one quart of ice cream, multiple batches can be made one right after the other.
I enthusiastically recommend this ice cream maker.
Customer Review: Works Well, Great Value - Highly Recommended! Summary: 5 Stars
The Lello 4070 Gelato Junior is the best "luxury" appliance we own. The ease of use and speed that high quality frozen treats can be made right on our counter top really makes this a great value. The machine has held up with fairly heavy usage for almost three years.
Since I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes in the past year, we have been using it even more frequently to make me sugar free treats using SPLENDA No Calorie Sweetener Granular, 9.7-Ounce Resealable Bags (Pack of 2) or Erythritol Powder by NOW Foods - (1 lbs. Powder) to sweeten the ice cream.
We also use it to make reduced calorie snacks for our kids and they enjoy making their own creations (Coffee Almond Ice Cream seems to be their current favorite).
Usage and clean up are fairly easy as well, making this a great kitchen addition the whole family can enjoy!
Highly recommended!
Customer Review: This is the perfect small ice cream maker. Summary: 5 Stars
We have had ours for over a year. We make ice cream ~twice a month or when company arrives. Sorbet is a really cool dessert that you must prepare on-the-spot, as real sorbet cannot be kept in a regular freezer (makes ice out of it). One trick with this maker is to let regular ice cream (25%-40% heavy cream) run for a full thirty minutes. Then, leave the bucket in the freezer with the compressor running while it is being served, since it is a little soft (you can't let the paddle run too much longer or the I-C will get too thick for it to agitate, causing it to stall - not good). It will not hurt the freezing compressor to let it run. After serving, (with the bucket still in the maker) put the rest in tupperware, and put it in the freezer. The bucket may freeze in place, but a little warm (not hot) water will unstick it.
We love ours very much except that it is making us fat! Children just love to make ice cream, and this is about as easy as it gets!
