Having been a fan of Pampered Chef products for years, I hesitated to switch to another manufacturer. BUT, since I'd gone through several slicers in the past year alone, I thought I'd give the competition a chance.
In the past month and a half, I've used the Leifheit slicer for eggs, strawberries and mushrooms, and it's behaving like a champ. I like the one-piece design and it's great to be able to toss it in the top rack of the dishwasher and go.
Will it continue the way it has begun? Stay tuned to see if it passes the test of time . . .

I struggled through many pages of product reviews and descriptions before I finally decided to purchase this particular brand. Why? Because I didn't have a clue on which brand was good or bad, many of the reviews for mushroom/egg slicers were mixed, so I took a stab in the dark, and came up a winner!! This is a great product, stores easily, and works well. The curve where you put the mushroom (or egg) is just the right size and is just a wonderful time saver! Its elegant look and stainless steel body. Its very handy and robust.
A very good product for the money I spent. Its worth more than that.
I dislike:
After slicing the egg, it sticks to its thread and makes it very difficult to clean.
Overall: A nice product to buy if you clean it immediately after slicing.

Well made and shaped to easily slice an egg in both directions, this
cutter has a lot more heft than most which took me a bit of getting used to.
I had a little trouble maneuvering it mostly during clean-up, but the weight is an advantage in its slicing ability and it did clean up easily.
