I bought this Apple slicer as it looked substantial. The cheap supermarket slicers break after several uses. This stainless steel slicer cuts more (smaller) slices than the typical cheap ones and this also means you are pushing more blades through the apple. This takes more force, sometimes almost more than I can manage. On one apple I had to pound the apple in the slicer on the counter to get it through. But I still love it. Most apples aren't that tough. But maybe hard for some to use.
