Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Pure Komachi by Kai 6 1/2 Inch Stainless-Steel Vegetable Santoku KnifeCustomer Review: Excellent light, sharp knife for cutting vegetables Summary: 5 Stars
My roommate had this knife, and at first I was skeptical- maybe the bright turquoise color threw me off? Before he moved out, however, I made sure that I found one of these knives for myself.
I only cut vegetables with it, and it has stayed wonderfully sharp. I'm on the shorter/smaller side, so with other knives I had trouble finding a good balance, and often times my forearm would get too tired because of a knife's weight. This knife is incredibly light, so I can chop without tiring. Excellent!
Overall, the Pure Komachi is a wonderful value, and great for chopping veggies. The serrated knife (the yellow one) is great for cutting bread, too.
Customer Review: great for the price Summary: 5 Stars
I have owned this knife for 2 years now, and still love it. Yes, I have another chef's knife by a well-known company for which I paid 4x more, but somehow I keep coming back to this one. I use it not only on fruits and veggies (recommended) but for meats, cheeses, anything. It's lightweight but not flimsy, cute but not (to me) obnoxious, and works well for a great price. It has held up nicely over the years with a little staining on the blade, which does not bother me as it does not affect functionality.
I recently bought a knife sharpener, and it was the best thing I ever did. Today it cuts as well as the day I got it.
Customer Review: Santoku Warrior Summary: 5 Stars
This knife has yet to meet an opponent who does not ulimately yield its vegetable flesh to the Santoku. The Santoku tangles with comestibles from all across the land, and succeeds with ruthless ability. There has only been one who did not kowtow; yet, even that recalcitrant turnip found its end when it was thrown to the back lawn like a swine, and fatefully succumbed its corporeality to the elements. As the turnip perished, the Santoku flickered in my parlour. Lettuce gore was carelessly smeared upon its blade, but even that could not threaten the Santoku's radiance.
A worthy knife.
Customer Review: Love it! Summary: 5 Stars
Just what I needed to cut veggies for my daily salads. Saw one similar on a popular cooking show but that one was $40.00 more! This works just as well I'm sure and such a cool color! It's easy to find in a drawer or my "wooden spoon jug" where I keep all odd utensils. It is a little light weight, but after going through carpal tunnel surgery, I don't think I need one much heavier. Fast shipping and great packaging as well. Another great find from Amazon!
Customer Review: Quality Cutlery At A Decent Price Summary: 5 Stars
If you want or need a name-brand kitchen knife, spend the bucks. My Henkels 9-inch chef's knife can't be beat for its ability to hold an edge. But honestly, you'll find yourself preferring the $20 Komachi line every day for the many mundane chopping, cutting, slicing, carving, etc. tasks you find yourself doing.
Hack that grilled cheese! In color, yet. Kudos Komachi.
