Whoever designed these magnetic locks was a genius. As a carpenter and a foster parent I have installed a LOT of cabinet locks and these are a dream to put in. I just finished putting two more in our bathroom and it took literally 5 minutes and that included taking them out of the package and cleaning up afterwards.
A fingernail to peel off the protective paper over the adhesive pad is all you really need. (Oh and make sure the surface you are attaching it to is clean.) You can use the screws that come with it but I have not found it necessary. My wife had mentioned that some people had noted that when they put the door to the adhesive lock and then closed the door, that the lock was a little to low to catch the hook. Here is a tip, as you close the door to meet the adhesive put a light downward pressure on the door handle. The door will flex down a little and when it meets the lock mechanism it will be in the right place.
There is a switch so you can disable the lock if you wish. This makes it ideal for grandparents who have children in the house occasionally.

My husband did not want to drill into the cabinets so the regular style cabinet locks were not an option. We heard about these magnetic locks and decided to give them a try. VERY easy to install! My daughter can't get into the cabinets no matter how many times she yanks on the doors, so they certainly serve their purpose. The nice thing about the magnet "key" is that you don't have to be too precise when unlocking the cabinet. Getting close to the lock usually works. I'm always on the go, and these don't slow me down. I recommend having 2 "keys" if you have a decent sized kitchen so you can store them in convenient places. Definitely worth the money and they are even reusable with some additional double-sided tape. Oh, and you can switch the locks to an unlocked position if you prefer. I love these magnet locks! I just bought a new house with my dream kitchen and needed to baby proof for my 1 year old son. I had such a hard time because of how the cabinets were built using the spring loaded locks - none of them worked! The clamp outer locks looked awful in my new kitchen. These magnet locks are perfect - no one knows that the cabinets are all baby proof and they look beautiful as well as work great. My son cannot even open the cabinets or drawers at all which prevents pinched fingers which often happen with the spring locks. These magnet locks also install so easily with adhesive - we did drill them in after there were adhered completely to make sure that they were extra secure. We live in a rental and I wanted to avoid kitchen cabinet and drawer locks that required drilling. I found some effective and inexpensive cabinet locks with Dream Baby Sliding Locks ([..]) but was still searching for a solution for our drawers. I gave these a go and while they work remarkably well, I did end up having to drill these in because there wasn't enough of a lip for the adhesive to stick securely. I like that the outside of the drawers still look normal. They were super super easy to install -- would have been even easier if I had only used the adhesive...but even with drilling, it was a simple job (coming from a woman with very very basic tool experience). Bottom line is I'm ordering more for other drawers and our single cabinets so I would definitely recommend them.Customer Review: Works beautifully!

Installed on kitchen sink cabinets (where we keep all the cleaning chemicals) and the bathroom cabinet (shampoo, soap, etc.) They work beautifully. Unlike the latches you can get, these keep the doors all the way shut so our 1 year old can't get his fingers stuck in the minimal crack the latches provide. Also - no chance of him getting in there without the magnetic key. Keep the key close-by since there is no shortcut to opening it, but it's really no problem - a nearby drawer or the enclosed adhesive backed key-holder makes it a breeze. It was also super-duper easy to install using the strong adhesive back and then permanently mounting with included screws with no hardware visible on the outside of the cabinets. I would highly recommend this product!
