Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Keurig B-70 B70 Platinum Single-Cup Home Brewing SystemCustomer Review: Lovin' it. Summary: 5 Stars
Got this B70 several months ago. It still works beautifully. It is very pleasing to the eye. The filler system is top notch and keeps from halting in the middle of pouring a cup of coffee. I love the fact that you can do tea and coffee or even just plain water for a hot chocolate mix. Of course there are also K-cups for hot chocolate (even a yummy White Hot Chocolate). We move ours from home into our RV when we go camping and traveling. Works just as well on the road. There are many many different k-cups to choose from and the hardest thing about the Keurig B70 is the decision regarding what flavor of coffee or tea you will make in it.
It does make a loud hum when filling prior to brewing the cup, and again right after. However, I have had other brewing systems and they are louder and more grating on the nerves than the Keurig B70. The reservoir is on the side and is very easy to fill. I feel it is much easier to fill than other systems I have had.
The K-cups are no mess, where as I have had other pods you have to lift out that are hot and dripping, no problem like that with the K-cups.However, if you wish to use up the pods you have left from the old brewing system, there is a little cup that you can purchase that fits inside the K-cup holder and allows you to insert the pods. You can even brew loose coffee by using the item made for that in the k-cup holder. The amount of beverage brewed per cup is adjustable, which is another great feature. The fact that the light (blue and very pleasing) is on to show the reservoir is a great idea. It lets you be able to see exactly how much water is left and that the brewing system is on.
A great little machine!
Customer Review: SOOO glad we decided to buy!!! Summary: 5 Stars
My husband and I argued over purchasing this unit. He said he had used this machine in other places and the coffee was horrible. I still wanted to try it, after looking at all the coffee choices and reading reviews. A local warehouse store (sorry Amazon) told me I could return it, no matter what, so I just came home with it one day. Good decision! Here's why:
Some say the coffee isn't strong enough. They just haven't tried the right kind yet. You must buy Extra Bold if you want a true coffee-house taste. Coffee People brand has some of the best we've tired so far. We both love it. Just play with the cup size until you get the strength you want. Most CP k-cups will make a strong cup, even on the largest setting.
We get to choose according to our own tastes - no compromising - YAY! I can choose flavored (which my hisband hates), or to make my second cup decaf - a huge plus.
There are SO MANY types of coffee to choose from. We started with variety packs to determine what we liked best.
Yes, if you do the math, it is a lot more expensive per cup than a traditional home brewer. We think it is totally worth the extra $$$. We drink appx. 4 cups in the morning, so it's $1.60 per day, if you're buying the large pack k-cups through Amazon.
It is ready any time of day we want it, in about one minute. Can't beat that. AND NO CLEANING!!!! Huge for me, as I came to hate our Cuisinart Grind-n-Brew, because it just seemed like such a pain to clean every day.
I hope this helps anyone who is on the fence, like I was. I have NO REGRETS about this purchase. After three months, we still LOVE it!
Customer Review: Variety rules the day at Keurig Summary: 5 Stars
Being one who loves convenient, but great tasting coffee, I've bought several single-serve coffee machines. The Home Cafe, My Bunn Cafe, and the most recent, Tassimo.
They all worked quite well, considering how "new" they were to the field, and how fresh the field really was at the time, for consumers. I was happy with each purchase(save the Home Cafe, which had a serious mechanical flaw).
I'm not going to spend all my time just comparing the Keurig machine; I'm simply going to say "I wish I'd bought one of these[any Keurig machine] earlier". It meets almost all the desires I had in a single-serve coffee machine.
- Tons of variety in K-cups (which actually can be difficult, I didn't know where to start or what to try!)
- Simple to use
- Beautiful, functional design
- 4 brew size choices
- Keeps water hot for the next cup instead of waiting until you fiddle with the machine
- Can be used with a custom filter K-Cup so you can brew any coffee you like (I'm looking forward to using this with tea too!)
- Much quieter than some machines I've used (the Tassimo is freakishly loud in my opinion)
Those are just some reasons I love this machine. The fact that it makes very good coffee is a big plus too, right? It seems as if the coffee from the Keurig machine tastes less "burnt" than most single serve coffee I've had in the past.
My biggest complaint is the cost. Whether it's worth $200 to you or not, is entirely up to YOU. If you're as obsessed with quick, easy, tasty coffee like I am, maybe you'll agree that it is worth it.
I'm a happy customer, either way. ;)
Customer Review: Great for small offices - Excellent customer service Summary: 5 Stars
A number of years ago, in a medium sized office, we had a Keurig brewing system that was great for giving everyone a choice of coffees and absolutely eliminating wasted pots of coffee. Overall, the quality of what we drank went way up, and waste went down, cost... well, it probably cost a little more and had to be hooked up to the water supply and was supplied through a commercial service. Which made it uneconomic for a small office of just a few people that did not want a service contract, plumbling work, etc.
Now, however, Keurig has seen the small office/home market and has met the need very very well. Same high quality coffees in single cup services that eliminates waste, but in a machine you buy and fill yourself with tap or bottled water. It still costs more than brewing a pot of coffee, but it definitely gives you more choices for yourself and your clients, and eliminates the waste in making a pot, and then letting it sit until it's cold or undrinkable.
It's simple to use and fast. If you want to make coffee and tea for several people, it takes no longer, really, than making a pot from scratch. The cost of the consumables runs around $0.50 per cup, though you can sometimes do better. That's far cheaper than walking over to Starbucks, though these machines don't really do a cappuchino, but more expensive than a pound of Folgers.
I've had one of these in my office for three months and have loved it! I had a service problem, which Keurig's friendly, articulate and helpful customer services representatives resolved immediately and cheerfully. I give them as high marks for service as for the machine itself!
Customer Review: Goodbye Tassimo.....Hello Keurig Summary: 5 Stars
Insignificant facts: Husband and wife are both accountants. Drink lots of coffee this time of year. Ok all times of year. Own a hardlined commercial Bunn, Tassimo and now Keurig 70, and some kind of cappuccino machine (put away in attic due to insufficient interest in cleaning). This comparison is obviously Keurig 70 to Tassimo as the Bunn is in a dimension all its own for different coffee desires
Pros: Fast! Coffee, tea, hot chocolate
Not as noisy as Tassimo
Makes full cups (no more holding the button in to fill cup
compromising taste from the Tassimo). Additionally, Tassimo
takes longer to "recover" from adding that extra amount into
your cup, hence, delaying readiness time for next cup
Larger selection of items (intend to use the "fill your own"
filter, laziness will probably overcome that). Tassimo STILL
hasn't offered a comprehensive enough variety years later to
rival Keurig.
Temperature adjustment very nice feature for those of us who
like HOT coffee
Faster ready time than Tassimo for that first cup
Cons: No cappuccino (husband not so thrilled about that)
Leaves a larger carbon footprint as the K-cups are substantially
larger than the Tassimo t-cups (though that could be alleviated
by making your own)
Only owned Keurig a short while, but have experienced less pod "blowouts" of grinds and tea leaves in cup than the Tassimo. Will see if that changes as it gets older.
