Customer Review: Don't buy this thermometer!
Summary: 1 Stars

This thermometer was sent to me by my brother in law as a baby gift. We had registered for it, and thought that it would be a good one to have. Well, we used it once and now we have to replace the batteries. Hopefully when we do that will fix the problem, (even though it's way too early to have to replace the batteries.) If that doesn't work, we'll probably take it back and end up exchanging it for another one.

Customer Review: Easy to use
Summary: 4 Stars

This thermometer is really easy to use. It has given me accurate reading on myself- I am a dork and checked it against two different digital thermometers we have at home. This isn't really what a doctor would tell you to use to take an infants temp anyway- on a child less than a year old you are really supposed to take it rectally if they have a fever. That being said, I am really squeamish and if I am ever alone with the baby when he has a temperature, I am taking the ear one first to gauge.

Customer Review: This is OK but. . .
Summary: 3 Stars

I would keep a rectal thermometer close at hand. I never felt that I would get accurate readings with this one. It was a great gage, but for a sick child, a rectal reading is best.

The plastic ear pieces can be a bit of a pain too. They didn't always snap on just right so that could give me an off reading. Babies squirm, and it doesn't seem that they account for that. The directions read that you have to have it in a certian place in the ear, I never found that place.

Customer Review: Worth it if you use it right
Summary: 4 Stars

I use this thermometer as my first attempt at getting my daughter's temperature. If she seems warm to me, I will use this thermometer since it is so easy and quick. The underarm takes forever with regular thermometers and she fusses the whole time. And every time I take her temp rectally she poops all over me! You do need to read the directions to make sure you are doing it right. The trick that helped me is to tug downward gently on the ear lobe. If this thermometer reads a temp, I will go on to the next method. Much easier than going through the hassle of rectal or underarm temp just to see that she is fine.

Customer Review: Does anyone really think this works?
Summary: 1 Stars

I got this ear thermometer thinking all parents need one, that it was essential to have a fast and easy device for getting an accurate temperature reading on a baby. well, it simply doesn't work. it has one job and one job only: to take a temperature. if one reading says 96, and then you immediately press the button again without moving the thermometer from the ear and it reads 99, there's a problem. a baby can't tell you when it's in her ear far enough, and to be honest, i try it on myself and can't seem to get a consistent reading. it has been sitting in a shelf on her changing table, but i may as well just throw it away. my daughter doesn't mind me taking her temperature rectally, i think it surprises her a little and she actually sits very still. also, under the arm works really well too. i usually add a degree to that. long story short, just a plain old digital thermometer is the way i decided to go after shelling out money for this supposedly superior device.
