Customer Review: Totally Perfect, No Funky Odor

I am a person who lives life keenly through my sense of smell, and I am a little baffled by all the reviews stating that there was a foul chemical stench coming from some people's kettles. I followed the instructions and ran water through it once, then discarded that first kettle's worth of water. There was a bit of a plastic odor with that first discarded pot, but every successive pot has been normal, and I use it a couple times every day. This thing makes for a perfect cup of tea, and does it quickly. It is much faster than boiling water on the stove, or even microwaving. I love it. I think any tea-drinker would appreciate having one of these.Customer Review: Love it!

After searching high and low for an electric water kettle that wasn't made of plastic, I finally came across the Capresso. I was hesitant to buy it at first because of the few negative reviews I read here regarding bad tasting water, possible plastic, and a bad smell. I finally went ahead with the purchase after a fruitless search for an alternative. I'm glad I did! This kettle is wonderful. It heats the water up very quickly and I've had no problems with bad tasting water or a bad smell. Though the lid is plastic, the heating element at the bottom of the pot is clearly stainless steel, not plastic. I barely avoided a catastrophe when the plastic handle of my conventional stainless steal kettle caught on fire (had no idea that is possible) after I forgot to turn the gas stove off. So I decided to shop for a safer alternative to boil water. Got this beautiful kettle and love it! I noticed a trace chemical smell emitted by the handle when I unwrapped the kettle but it quickly went away and has not returned (I guess I am fortunate in that aspect). The water does not just boil fast, it is also fun to watch it heat up. You hear a little click and the kettle turns off once the water boils. Super safe! This kettle is great. 3 1/2 minutes for 5 cups of boiling water. Its also fun gazing at the liquid bubbles as they start to float off the metal dome in the bottom of the pot. I've had no problems with this pot including any smell or steam or pouring problems. A great high quality kettle.
No electric kettle in the U.S. will boil water as fast as those in the U.K....they have a different electrical supply system which generates power at a higher rate (their kettles can boil water in about 1-2 minutes)
Oh its also attractive on my counter.

I have no Idea what everyone is talking about. I have read some abasing comments on this kettle and I have to admit it is a wonderful piece of hardware for any tea drinker. I have owned this product for four months now and have had no problems with it so far. Some people reported a smell, the smell is called new and it goes away with two brews. No leaks and I use this product in my office and it is abused on a regular basis. I am very pleased and would recommend this to anyone who loves fast boiling water and a good cup of tea.
