Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Jura-Capresso H2O Plus Glass Water KettlesCustomer Review: This watched pot surely boils and we highly recommend it! Summary: 5 Stars
This is my second electric tea kettle in the last year--the first one, a Cuisinart, having been inadvertantly destroyed by my wife within a matter of days. See http://www.amazon.com/Cuisinart-KUA-17-Cordless-Automatic-Electric/dp/B00004S9CZ/ref=cm_cr-mr-title. We now think ourselves lucky because we vastly prefer the Capresso. It heats the water faster; has a more pleasing design; allows you to see the water as it begins to boil; and it can't be mistaken for our old stove tea kettle (hence the aforementioned Cuisinart's inadvertant destruction). Had I read the customer reviews beforehand, I might have hesitated to buy a kettle which some have said smells, gives the water an unpleasant taste, and even may be hazardous to one's health. However, it's been a month and we've found none of that. If my sensory capacities are lacking--as my wife claims--I know that hers are anything but!
Customer Review: I love this kettle Summary: 5 Stars
I read through all the reviews but since I really like the style of this kettle, I decided I would order it and try it myself. I have been nothing but well pleased. It is true that the interior had a very displeasing smell (I think some people referred to it as a "chemical" smell), but after about 6 rounds of boiling water it has gone away and let me say that these 6 rounds of boiling water were used to make cups of tea with absolutely no bad taste to the water at all. When the water boils and I pour it into our teacups, I immediately empty the kettle, place it back on its base, and open the lid so the interior can dry out, which is does in a very short time. Then I close the lid. Again, I am pleased with this kettle. It boils the water VERY quickly, and I love to watch it. It also looks really smart on my countertop. If you really want this kettle, I suggest you try it out yourself.
Customer Review: Best Electric Kettle EVER! Summary: 5 Stars
Wow, I was surprised to read such terrible reviews about this product. I have had this kettle for 5 years now! And no problems! I had another one before that, it was a different model where it had no steel on the handle and top, that one last me 3 years and then the handle finally became loose and broke, but it still worked. Now with the reinforced handle it is GREAT! I have bought two of these as gifts for people who are also super pleased with it. I don't remember any crazy odors or water contamination and I only use purified water, but at the same time I washed it thoroughly before use as I would with any item you are eating or drinking from.
I HIGHLY recommend this product, I love it. And when this new one breaks I'll buy another one, and actually I visited this page because I am buying one for my mother-in-law this Christmas.
Customer Review: Great Kettle, super fast and great looking Summary: 5 Stars
This kettle looked great on the site compared to the other ones that look like they belong in someones dorm room. I keep this one on my desk for hot water throughout the day. The kettle looks good, is easy to use and heats water really quickly. The max fill line is 6 cups, which is enough for 3-4 cups worth, a good amount. To start the water going you simply flip the black button on the handle and the pot will start heating the water, no switches on the base to have to worry about. Within a minute the kettle does start making a bubbling noise signifying that the water is hot (the bubbling/hissing is a little loud but better than an annoying beep). Pretty much as soon as you flip the button on the handle off the kettle goes quite. Overall I think this is a great product, I have not experienced any weird chemical issues that other reviewers posted.
Customer Review: Fast Boil, Water Level Sensitive Summary: 5 Stars
I am a tea connoisseur, and this is the best kettle I've used by far!
The kettle turns off automatically, so I don't need to watch it boil. When boiling 4 cups of water it takes less than 2 min; I can go and do whatever I need, and even 20 min later it's still hot. Plus, the boiling time changes with the level of the water.
The base never gets hot when water is boiling, and I can pick up the kettle and put it down somewhere else.
What's also great is that if you use tap water, you can see when you need to clean out the kettle. Just boil vinegar in the pot and leave it for a little while, and it comes out clean. I used to use tap water, so I would clean it out with vinegar; now I use filtered water and never need to clean it.
Great kettle; completely worth the price.
