Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Capresso Infinity Conical Burr Grinders

Customer Review: Not as messy as people say . . . so far
Summary: 5 Stars

When I first looked at this grinder I was hesitant because of all of the reviews saying it was messy and the customer photos of the grounds container wasting a lot of coffee. I decided to purchase it regardless because it seemed to be of solid build and had good reviews on other sites around the net.

Well, I got it home yesterday and have ground a couple batches of coffee and it hasn't wasted a single crumb yet. Maybe I have been lucky but the problem so far seems to have been over exagerated or corrected by the manufacturer since those reviews were made.

The top burr on mine has a rubber seal on it that I don't see in the pictures on here. I wonder if this was added recently to help funnel the grounds where they need to go and prevent them from traveling where they shouldn't. Also I noticed that the top burr is keyed so it can be inserted into 3 positions when lifted and rotated. On mine, one position is a snugger fit than the other two which might also reduce the clearances and keep the grounds at bay.

In any case, I am very happy with the grinder and how NOT MESSY it is. Hopefully this will continue for the life of the product. If anything changes with my experience, I will be sure to update this review so I don't mislead anyone.

Customer Review: Like Starbucks
Summary: 5 Stars

I have been 'grinding' my coffee for years, having gone through two of those cheap blade 'grinders', which in reality are choppers. When it was obvious the consistency of the 'ground' coffee coming from my last chopper wasn't very consistent, I decided it was time for a new one. What I really like about Amazon is it's capacity to educate the consumer by allowing the consumer to view appraisals by other buyers. That's how I learned about the Capresso grinder. I have only had it a day, but it impressed me already. My $90 was not wasted. This thing is uptown. It does a beautiful job of creating a consistent ground coffee. I'm the only one who drinks coffee in our house. It kinda troubled me that I was buying some huge machine for $90 just for my puny one or two cups a day. IT WAS WORTH IT! I AM NOT DISAPPOINTED. The coffee has that rich taste, like Starbucks, that I could never get with the choppers. The only caveat I would include is the residue left on the removable grind wheel. It's enough for a third of a cup of coffee. But I'm assuming if I don't wipe it off each time, it'll be the first stuff out on the next grind. Noise wise, I'd guess it's half what the cheap chopper was. Five stars maybe a star over kill, but hey I like my coffee.

Customer Review: THE BEST
Summary: 5 Stars

I ordered the Stainless Steel Capresso Infininty Burr grinder b/c of price, grind flexibility, size, and quietness. It looks great on my counter next to my Starbucks barista drip and espresso machines. I am infinitely happy with my choice on all accounts. It truly grinds all kinds of grind varieties and IS QUIET. It feeds the beans well so I don't even have to stir it to get the beans to grind. The receptacle it falls into is larger than our other one and there is NO static! My first try to grind espresso I assumed I'd need to put it on extra fine, but that was so fine my espresso machine couldn't even work! (Now I need to learn how to make Turkish coffee, as that what this machine can do.) It makes me want to make coffee just so I can use the grinder! I was initially shopping for a higher end grinder, but with budget constraints settled on this mid-range one. I'm very happy with it, although I probably don't know what I'm missing with the higher end models like some claim. It's good for me! We love it, two of my family members are ordering one soon! PS Don't get the lesser models from Capresso, they weigh half as much and aren't as quiet!

Customer Review: Did you put the burr in upside down?
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this grinder for my French Press and it grinds the beans perfectly! After my 2nd week, though, as I was rushing to make some coffee, I placed the burr in upside down and didn't realize it until I put the bean container on top and turned it to one of the course settings. The container wasn't sitting flush so I pulled it right off and found my mistake! It kinda threw me that I could pull the container off without turning it back to the starting position. It's supposed to be locked. Anyway, I freaked out after reading a reviewer's comments and how they had to throw theirs away after doing the same thing I had done. I couldn't remove the burr no matter how hard I tried. I figured I'd return it and pack it up...I put the bean container back on and turned it counter-clockwise all the way as far as it would go. I don't know what made me do it but I took the bean container out and tried to pull out the burr again and voila! It slid right out!

So if you're a dunce like me and you place the burr in upside down, just make sure the bean container slot is in its starting position and you can remove the burr just fine.

Customer Review: outstanding grinder for the price
Summary: 5 Stars

There have been quite a few reviews on this grinder, so I don't feel the need to go into *too* much detail, but a few things about it caught my attention:

- The finest grinding setting is FINE. Like dust fine. I use mine for espresso, and I keep it five clicks from the finest setting. Much finer than that, and it will clog my portafilter. This has made a *huge* difference in the taste of the espresso.

- The plastic hopper has little to no static, which struck me as unusual. I can pour the grinds right out of the hopper, and none are stuck to the side. I'm not sure if this was by design or some lucky, lucky coincidence, but it's great.

- It's relatively quiet. We can have a conversation while it's grinding, and it doesn't wake up the baby in the morning (which is HUGE).

- Watch it if you use really oily beans - it will eventually clog. If you don't mind cleaning it (which is ridiculously easy), then no worries.

Bottom line: if you're thinking about getting it, get it.
