The thing is awkward at first, and takes a bit of practice to establish some finesse. I doubt it will ever become the "routine" way to open a can.
But it works well and saves a lot of pain from carpal tunnel, and probably arthritis, which makes it worth the effort to learn to use it.
With a little practice it will open a can easily without a "pre pop" of the ring.
It does exert a considerable amount of force by creating much more leverage. Don't over power it.
After opening twenty odd cans with it, only one ring broke off. Still it cracked that can lid enough to open easily with a fork handle.
It will open a beverage can as well ...
I gave the Jokari 5 stars for the coolness factor, and saving me some pain.
