I bought the sweater stone to remove the pills off my sheets, and, boy, does it work well. It arrived in the mail yesterday, and within a half hour, I had all the little annoying pills removed from my king-sized bed.
It is very important to have a lint-roller handy. The pills end up piled everywhere, and the stone itself also discharges some sort of "sand". I needed a ton of lint-roller sheets to tidy up (so be sure to have a full roll), but afterwards: bliss. What seemed to be an unsolvable problem is now no more with just a little bit of work.
Tip: I find it worked best when I angled the stone up a bit and "combed" the pills with the edge of the stone.

This does work. It also requires time, especially if things are really full of pills. And crumbly bits of the stone do break off. If you have 20 extra minutes a night and are willing to spend it working on your nice sweaters, then this purchase will be worth it for you. Use it an angle, don't press too hard, and use some kind of lint roller to pick up the pills after they've been removed. Then vacuum the area in which you were working.
If you do not have a minute to spare, this will not be a worthwhile purchase for you.

I have a thousand J Crew cashmere sweaters- gorgeous, soft, feminine, and they pill like crazy. Some almost from the first wearing; but I keep buying them on sale. Maybe I'm a sucker. I read that a sweater stone renews them and won't damage the fabric- I ordered this one, it shows up a few days later, and I have been gently rubbing it on ALL my sweaters now.
Easy to use, gentle but effective, sweaters look like new again. Recommended to everyone who likes to buy something and keep it for a long time.

Overall, it works well after you get used to it. I would test it on an old sweater before trying it on something you love. The results depend on your technique and how firmly you press down. You can really get a old sweater or hoodie to look like new again. It does leave some shiny dust behind on certain items and occasionally has a strange smell if you are really working it. It works much better than those battery powered shavers (that always have dead batteries when you really need it) Worth buying!Customer Review: great purchase

I'm very pleased with the sweater stone. I use it to remove pilling on my sweaters and wool pants. If you rub lightly (which gets the job done), you shouldn't have to worry about tearing the fabric. It does make a mess, but I just use a small vacuum to clean up afterwards. I definitely recommend this to anyone who doesn't want to worry about the harsher, more expensive battery-operated fabric shavers.
