Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Back to Basics Nut RoasterCustomer Review: AWSOME Summary: 5 Stars
To make the cinnamon nuts you have to stir constantly. You just can not do it properly with a pan and spoon. This pan is just wonderful. It coats the nuts evenly, prevents them from getting all globbed together. Best pan I have ever purchased. Love it.
Thanks
Customer Review: TASTY SNACKS EASILY PREPARED Summary: 4 Stars
If there is such a person as a nut-aholic, that's me! I love nuts and they're nutritious, too. In the past, glazed nuts have always been special occasion treats, bought in small jars or cellophane bags and doled out sparingly. No more!
The Back to Basics Nut Roaster easily glazes all my favorites - almonds, pecans, walnuts, cashews in a quick ten minutes on top of the stove. The roaster itself looks a bit like a deep fry pan with a mixing handle in the center. All I do is put the roaster on our electric cook top over medium high and then add nuts, glaze mixture (more about that later) and specified amount of water to pan. Then, simply rotate the mixing handle until the moisture is gone. I pour the nuts onto a non-stick cookie sheet to cool. If any stick together they're easily separated with a wooden spoon while they're hot.
Now for the promised glaze info: We really like the Back To Basics Toffee and Cinnamon glazes. For either of these we use 2 cups nuts, 3/4 Cup of glaze and 3 Tablespoons of water. Delish!
This past holiday season we gave neighbors and friends jars of glazed nuts for which we received thanks and compliments galore. We also try to keep some on hand in an air tight container for drop-in guests but, to be honest, more often then not they're for us.
Enjoy!

Customer Review: It doesn't just roast nuts well. Summary: 2 Stars
This is something of a gimmick item. I was looking for a nut roaster 3 years ago and
this kept coming up as the only one to get. So finally I bought it and it basically is for
using pre-made bottled flavorings full of sugar and spices and this thing sort of mixes them all around the pan so that the flavorings get applied well to the nuts. I don't want that. I want a nut roaster period. Yes I tried to use it for that but Almonds especially bunch up and you have to reverse directions with the stir handle and when you do that the handle sometimes unscrews itself and there you are. And when the nuts get caught up under the stir rod they can also burn before you can manage to unstick. I found it does not do a good job of keeping all the nuts evenly in contact and turning to avoid contact with the heat instead many of the nuts on the bottom do not get stirred up and around either. Basically if you want to sugar coat nuts maybe this works. But for me I do a better job doing small batches of nuts in a cup in the microwave than trying to manage small or larger amounts in this thing. I've given up trying to make this pan work out. It doesn't cut it as a nut roaster any way which way you turn it.
