Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of J.A. Henckels Premier Series Opus 45-Piece Stainless Steel Flatware Set, Service for 8

Customer Review: Great weight - great appearance - mediocre shine
Summary: 4 Stars

I love the way this flatware sits and I love using it. It's modern, sleek, and a great weight in your hands. I also like that the knives are sharp enough to use with most meals, but not too pointy. The spoons are great as well (not too shallow, not too deep). My only complaint would be that after a couple rounds in the dishwasher, they definitely get spotty and don't have the same smooth shine that they initially had. I haven't had any of the issues with rust on the knives, however.

Customer Review: Wonderful silverware
Summary: 4 Stars

The hand conforms well to the utensils, despite that the handles have little substance to them. The silverware is quite comfortable to handle, and the luster is wonderful and maintained wash after wash. The only complaint that I have is that the handles of the knives are hollow and leak a white, chalky substance from the base of the hilt (where connected to the blade) if washed in the dishwasher.

Customer Review: Elegant flatware
Summary: 4 Stars

This is a beautiful set of flatware. The knives are very sharp, unusual for stainless steel. My only complaint is that the handles of the tea spoons and the salad forks are so narrow they slip through the openings in the silverware tray in the dishwasher so, they must be inserted handle up. This does not seem to affect the cleaning so far.

Customer Review: Excellent flatware
Summary: 4 Stars

I love this particular set from Henckels. The utensils feel very nice in your hand. The only complaint I have about it is that the utensils do get very slippery if your hands are wet.

The weight is very nice, not too heavy, but not light either. They just look darn cool at the dinner table.

Customer Review: great look - bad stainless
Summary: 3 Stars

i have owned my Henckels set for over 4 years. almost immediately they looked worn and used after washing. hand or machine, no difference. nothing would remove these somewhat permanent looking water sploches but aggressive elbow grease. eventually i just ignored this...but about a year later the knives started to look like they were left in the road and run over. i continued to use the set without the original knives. now everything looks so rotten and rusty that it is time to find something better made. incidentally, mine are stamped JAPAN, not china. anyway...i do not feel they are of great long term value. they are definitely better suited for occasional use. i also encountered similar rust/water damage with the 'everedge' steak knives. strange that it is almost immediate with the lower cost knives.
