Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of J.A. Henckels International Fine Edge Pro 8-inch Stainless-Steel Bread KnifeCustomer Review: Good bread knife Summary: 4 StarsAfter reading other reviews about this knife, I decided to purchase it. I'm very pleased with the knife. It is stout, study, and has a good weight and feel in the hands. Also, it goes right through bread, neatly slicing it without any tearing and without leaving excessive crumbs. Naturally, I've had the best luck on loaves that have cooled somewhat before slicing begins, but the knife didn't do a half-bad job on bread right out of the oven. Be very careful with this knife if you leave it down in the sink in dishwater though! It's just as sharp on fingers as it is on bread!! This bread knife is a great buy for its quality. I'd buy it again!
Customer Review: The best knife in the block Summary: 5 StarsThis is the best knife I have for bread, rolls and tomatoes. I get uniform slices with almost no pressure. It has a good feel in the hand, mine is a large hand, and cleans easily. I have 2 and have given several as gifts, much to the joy of my friends.
Customer Review: Cut your bread Summary: 5 StarsI have a bread machine that says I should wait fifteen minutes to cut the loaf. With this knife, I can cut it immediately. Enough said?
Customer Review: Needs elbow grease Summary: 3 StarsHenkels makes great knives in their top end lines -4+5 stars, however they are not razor sharp out of the box and if they are they will not be for long. They simply need to be sharpened at least 3 times more often than Wustof-Trident or Global. If you are good at sharpening this is a great knive.
Customer Review: Run To Buy This One! Summary: 5 StarsAnyone who loves homemade bread as much as ido (and who is lucky enough to have friend who specializes in making all sorts of it)needs a great bread knife to cut it correctly. lord knows, anyone who sticks to store-bought bread today just has no idea how delectable, tasty, and substantial good, nutritious, and carefully made home-baked bread can be! That much said, this is the perfect tool for cutting it with, and it is now being offered at a brgain basement price, which means I am about to order another one now that they are even less expensive than before. So hurry before I buy them out! Hahaha. Anyway, even chewy bread yields easily to this knife, with some major league serrations, and are known as scallops." This is a really is an inexpensive piece of cutlery, and while they don't have bolsters and their blades are thinner and less strong, for the price one can hardly go wrong. Enjoy!
