Knives drop horizontally into the slots, which I find easier than sticking them pin-cushion style into a counter block. Saw this similar item in another name brand store for double the price of this one with two less slots. Husband said since it cost less to go ahead order two. This Henckel in-drawer knife storage is well made and does what it should; however, if you have Japanese knives, they will not sit down in the slot. They do fit but are a bit wobbly in the tray. This in-drawer knife tray was absolutely perfect. It fit my drawer exactly. I didn't want a big block taking up counterspace and this fit in the drawer where I wanted the knives to go. Strong, sturdy - made of real wood. This tray is heavy enough to stay put in the drawer - unlike those flimsy ones. Our quality knives are stored appropriately & they don't have to sit out on the counter in some bulky butcher block. Couldn't have asked for anything more. This is perfect.
