I never finished unpacking the item from the box it came in. The first item I removed was the glass light shade which I immediately noticed had a little rattle to it. I soon discovered that a piece was broken off of the shade, so I put it back in the box and returned the item the next day. The package came from Target; it looked worn and beaten as though it had been moved around quite a bit. It also didn't seem to have the type of packing that Amazon uses. I'm going to buy a lamp now off the shelf at a store where I can inspect it before I buy it.
