This tortilla press is good for corn tortillas, but not so good for flour tortillas. The flour tortillas are not nearly thin enough. I have tried everything...maybe I misunderstood and the presses are only for corn tortillas. Can anyone enlighten me?????Customer Review: smashing success!

Ordered this with the idea of pressing out dough for runzas. Worked as advertised. Wife wants to use it for apple turnovers etc. Glad to have it - definite labor saver, "Tom Sawyered" the grandkids into how much fun it was!Customer Review: Tortilla Press

This tortilla press is built like a brick. It's certainly better than no tortilla press at all. The main problem is that there is so much "slop" in the hinge point that it is difficult to make tortillas of a uniform thickness. I have had to resort to using a paper shim on the bottom plate (in addition to the normal plastic that is used to keep the tortillas from sticking), and using pennies or other shims around the edge as "stops" in order to keep certain areas of the press from squeezing too far. The manufacturer just needs to do a little more careful machining on the holes in the hinge area. It works fine with my "fixes", but one should not have to resort to these measures.Customer Review: Not convinced...

I'm not convinced that a Tortilla Press is really worth the money, but perhaps I'm doing something wrong. I'm unsure what it does you couldn't pretty much do just as easily with a rolling pin.
With that said, this cast iron one is probably the best you are going to find for the money. I wish it wasn't "tinned" and was just straight up cast iron, and it would be nice if it was 2 or 3 times bigger so you could make big burrito sized tortillas.
