Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Nuwave 20201 Analog-Controlled Infrared Tabletop Oven, WhiteCustomer Review: Excellent product and excellent value Summary: 5 Stars
I received the analog NuWave oven for Christmas and have been using it ever since. It is an excellent product and works as advertised (of course all the ads are for the NuWave Oven Pro which has digital controls). It is easy to operate; just turn the dials to their proper settings and let the NuWave cook your food.
With the NuWave, you can do just about everything that you can do in an oven. Now for larger turkeys, you may need the extender ring which is mentioned in the infomercials for the digital NuWave.
Clean-up is a breeze. Everything - with the obvious exception of the electronic part - can be put in the sink and washed with hot soapy water. I recommend hand-drying everything before reassembly.
With the NuWave, I re-heated leftover Thanksgiving ham on Christmas Day straight from the freezer, set the power setting to HI and the timer for 30 minutes, and in 30 minutes the ham was as tender and juicy as it was on Thanksgiving Day. I have also made French fries in the NuWave. This results in healthier fries because French fries are usually deep-fried in artery-clogging trans fats; with the NuWave, you can use a healthier oil - such as extra-virgin olive oil - to drizzle on the fries, and you can also add some chili powder and turn your French fries into chili fries.
The liner pan is excellent for roasting and sauteeing veggies such as onions, carrots, and even diced potatoes. The cooking tray doubles as a one-inch cooking surface and a four-inch cooking surface.
The NuWave even cooks frozen foods much faster than conventional cooking. There is absolutely no pre-heating required. Cooking frozen meats without thawing is a great way to reduce the risk of food-borne illness. However, you should still wash hands with warm soapy water anytime you handle raw meats.
So far I have cooked French fries, tofu scramble, a complete salmon dinner, and even store-bought veggie burgers with a side of diced onions and diced potatoes. And all of my foods have come out perfect. The fries are crispy. The tofu scramble is tasty with its combinated of eggs, cheese, and firm tofu. The salmon dinner came out perfectly; the salmon was flaky and tasty, and the baby carrots were great as well. And the veggie burgers were wonderful, and adding the diced onions and diced potatoes as a topping gave it even more of a great flavor.
I love this so much that I have decided to retire my George Foreman grill. It really is that great.
Customer Review: Cooks Awesome. Questionable Quality of Parts. Summary: 5 Stars
First, I just want to clear up a point of misinformation that was given in a couple other reviews. The Nuwave does not come anywhere close to using more energy than a conventional electric oven. On its highest setting, the Nuwave uses 1300-1400 watts (real world value measured with a Kill-A-Watt wattmeter), which is less than a half to a third of the power even the most efficient conventional oven uses.
Anyway, I've owned the Nuwave oven for about 6 months now, and I use it everyday. I'm hardcore obsessive-compulsive when it comes to cooking chicken and fish, and because of that, in the past, I've always wound up overcooking to the point of drying out and/or burning the meat. With the Nuwave oven though, even with my propensity to ruin meat in the name of food safety, my chicken and salmon still come out juicy and tender.
One of the few things I've found that doesn't cook well in the Nuwave though is frozen pizza. I've tried adjusting the time, power settings, and rack height, but the pizza dough never comes out fully cooked. In my experience, this is one area where the Nuwave falls short of the conventional oven.
Also, it's been mentioned by numerous other reviewers, but depending on the exact model, the quality of the Nuwave leaves a lot to be desired, for sure. In general, the Nuwave is an appliance that requires somewhat delicate care. On most models, the clear dome enclosure is made of plastic, and a quick google search of "Nuwave cracked dome" will point out the frailty of this part. Also, partly due to my own negligence, the steel rack on my Nuwave has started to rust pretty badly. I've never done anything as stupid as to take a Brillo pad to the rack, but I'm guessing my failure to dry the rack out before putting the dome back on (thereby continually trapping all the moisture inside the oven) lead to the rusting.
Beyond these quality issues though and its inability to cook a decent pizza from raw, the Nuwave has really lived up to the hype in my eyes. In particular, I think those that live busy lives and have healthier appetites will really appreciate what this appliance has to offer.
Customer Review: Do Believe the Hype! Summary: 5 Stars
I absolutely LOVE this oven! I saw it on the infomercial, but bought it on Amazon today. I first cooked some Polish Kilbasa on the oven. LOVED it SO MUCH, that I immediately took out some frozen pork chips and cooked them too. Can't wait to come home from work tomorrow and figure out what else to put in there. We have an old stove that I don't use because it's too much trouble. We were using a big toaster over. For the most part, the toaster oven won't see us anymore either. NuWave Oven or bust! LOL
If you are thinking about getting this, THINK no more!

I am STILL using this thing at the very LEAST once EVERY week. For the first time, last weekend, I cooked a whole chicken in it. I can't begin to tell you just how wonderfully it turned out. So much so that I just bought another whole chicken to cook in there. I have never been a fan of chicken breasts. It always seems to taste dry no matter where I get it from or what restaurant. But this time.... *licking lips* That chicken breast meat tasted more like thigh meat without being fatty. When I cut the warn chicken open, juice was just running out of it. Oh, my gosh... Now I think I'm about to stop typing and go put me another whole chicken in the oven... LOL
Customer Review: A NEW way of cooking with Nu-Wave Summary: 5 Stars
Our daughter-in-law was the first to own a Nu-Wave, but she loves her gadgets, so we didn't think much about it.
Then, while visiting with my step-son who lives in another state, he purchased a Nu-Wave also. Since we were staying at his house, we were able to see how easy it was, even for this rather inept chef, to produce a healthy and delicious meal in half the usual cooking time.
We have now been using our own Nu-Wave oven 6-8 months and love it. Since we live on a boat, we were concerned about the amount of power it would draw and the heat it would generate. We are more than happy because we need not have worried. It surpasses our toaster oven, microwave, and range top by far, in amperage usage and heat conduction. This says nothing of the wonderful meals I have been able to create! I don't use my regular oven, range, or microwave very often. I really don't need to anymore with the versatility of this device.
Thanks and I hope the reader tries one!! They'll be glad they did.

P. S. This Christmas past (2010), I bought my daughter one. She is NO cook whatsoever, yet she has used it several times and my grandson actually LIKED the food. He is the world's pickiest eater!
Customer Review: great stuff. Summary: 5 Stars
i got this because it looked so good and convenient from informercial. but instead of buying from the informercial company, i got it from Amazon.com because they are better priced and more reliable company to work with.
as soon as i got it, i tried out with fish, steak and few other vegitables. it worked to perfection. food comes out fast and moist and i have been using it for a month or so and i have no complain at all. it can surely replace my big oven and little toaster.
great stuff.
