Customer Review: Attractive & moderately difficult to install

I read through each review of this fan before purchasing it, and one thing that really sold it for me was that another reviewer raved about its ease of installation. I found that not to be entirely the case.
Where I ran into a bit of trouble was with the wiring. We removed the old fan and set about hooking up the electrical. It appeared relatively straightforward. While DH was in the attic attaching wires, I went down to turn the power back on and flip the switch and then...nothing. He fiddled some more, and then the fan worked, but not the light. Fiddled more, then the light worked but not the fan. We had just had a working light/fan, so the wires couldn't have shorted out. Eventually we figured out the proper configuration, but it took the better part of a day covered in attic insulation.
Short disclaimer: my house is about 70 years old and the electrical is definitely not up to code, so your mileage may vary, but we have nothing exotic like knob and tube.
The fan itself is now up in my small bathroom and functioning perfectly. The fan is just loud enough to be heard while in the bathroom but not in the hallway outside. (As someone else commented, I too prefer to hear the hum of fan. This one is nice and quiet, but it's there.) It clears the steam from the shower efficiently and looks fantastic doing so. I used nail polish remover to get rid of the ridiculous Hunter logo; a cotton ball works great, and it comes off easily. Now that it's up, I love it, and I would purchase it again - I would just go into it better prepared.

I will keep this short and sweet. I am TOTALLY impressed with Hunter Fan tech support. I am TOTALLY unhappy with Amazon's packaging process. I am an Amazon Prime customer and ordered this fan for next day delivery. I received the fan the next day..but when I opened the box..the glass globe was shattered. The amazon box itself had no fragile markings on it...and they only used the brown paper ON TOP of the fan box...not on both sides. Fortunately, we are able to have the contractor install the fan...which is better than we expected in its overall look, quality, and quietness. And now dealing with Hunter Fan tech support...who by the way, is shipping a new glass globe out FED EX ground...for FREE, I am confident in the product and the company itself!! I have got to admit, when I saw the price of this Hunter bathroom fan I was skeptical. I have been pricing fans at Home Depot and Lowe's and every one I looked at, didn't stack up to this one. I ordered the Hunter fully expecting to return it when it didn't draw properly or was too loud. I was wrong on both counts. This fan is quiet and it does exhaust very well. It is rated for use directly above a shower where mine is. There is no plastic on this fan either, the brushed rings are metal and the frosted glass is real glass. Others have mentioned the Hunter sticker in the center of the glass, but honestly I can't imagine why anyone would object to it because it is hardly noticeable. If the small Hunter sticker is that much of a nuisance, then maybe you have other problems. Combined with the wireless Hunter switch, this is a winner.Customer Review: Great bathroom light/fan and the Hunter logo does come off.

Renovating a small full bath in an older house and it's so nice to move into the 21st. century with a fan...an end to the fogged mirror. At first, when unpacked, it seemed big, but it looks great and works great. The guy that installed it for us, commented on how well made it was and how easy the installation went.
And by the way, one reviewer complained about the Hunter logo on the glass globe. I spent about 30 seconds with a paper towel and some "Goo Off", the stuff you use to take price tag glue off, and no more logo. The logo was painted on the outside, so no damage to the frosting, which is internal.

Bought this over a year ago and finally got around to installing it. The instructions were clear and my only difficulty was due to the very cramped attic space I have. With proper room to work it would have been an easy job. I read the reviews and saw that a lot of buyers were upset with the Hunter logo on the glass. I know I would have been very displeased as well, but apparently the company has listened to complaints as mine came without logo. Very attractive and efficient unit. Love mine!
