Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Bazoongi 48" BouncerCustomer Review: A great trampoline for toddlers Summary: 5 Stars
I usually wait longer to write a review, but this trampoline was such a hit with my son that I had to share the experience faster than usual... My mom got this trampoline as a gift for my 22 month old son. She thought that it would be a good way for him to burn some energy during the winter. Well, it works very well. He bounces, jumps, sits, uses it to jump to the couch, he even wants to nap on it. It is a very fun 'toy.' So, in case you are wondering if your kids will use it, trust me they will.
Before my mom bought this trampoline I had several concerns, especially regarding safety. I thought that the handle bar was only on the side and that my son's arms would not reach it, or that if he reached the handle his feet would not be on the mat, but on the blue cover of the metal springs. My son is close to 3 feet -about 34 inches- and he reaches the handle bar perfectly and his feet stay safely in the mat and away from the spring cover. He still has about two inches from his feet to the spring cover. So the trampoline can easily be used by toddlers. My last safety concern was about the sturdiness of the trampoline and if my son could tip it over if he jumped hard enough while holding on to the bar. To test this I have bounced on it myself. I am 130 pounds and I have jumped on it really hard while holding on to the safety bar. If I jump really hard it buckles, but it does not tip over completely. My son has jumped hard on it while holding on and so far the trampoline has not moved at all. He is 30 pounds so I figure he will not make it tip over for a while, and when he is older the handle will not be necessary. So I think it is pretty safe and sturdy for a toddler. Still, as my son has gotten comfortable with the trampoline he has been a little more daring and he has fallen, so you do need to be there to supervise the kids and catch them if necessary.
Putting it together was a little tricky, but I did it myself in just 90 minutes. The instructions are not that clear, but with a little of patience and logic it is easy to set it up. The only thing extra I used was some oil to get the pieces to slide into one another with less effort, and it worked.
Overall I think this is a great trampoline and I have to say that my mom was right.
Customer Review: Good energy burner Summary: 5 Stars
We've had this for about a year. Setup was, as I remember, a bit strenuous for me (done by myself); the parts have to be under tension for a trampoline to work. However, everything fit together properly. The tool they provide to install the springs is absolutely necessary for the last several springs you install; there's no way you'll be able to pull the springs into position by hand.
The instructions include a lot of CYA legalese about safety. Most of that seems to be written for full-size trampolines, not this one. (24 foot ceiling required? How ridiculous can you get?)
I flatly disagree with those who claim this is flimsy. The frame is solid and has not shown any signs of wear or bending in a year of use (our son weighs around 40 lbs). The one part that has been damaged is the foam wrap around the handlebar. Our son dug fingers and teeth into it, and it ripped pretty easily. (I tried replacing it with pipe insulation, but that's been even less sturdy; I'll probably try to get a replacement foam piece from the manufacturer.) It is, however, possible for vigorous bouncing while holding onto the bar to make the tramp tilt off its back legs. Our son hasn't reached a dangerous tilt, but it's pretty noisy when it bangs back down on the floor.
Our son loves it. When we first showed it to him, his eyes lit up. For a while, he used it very regularly. Then summer came and it was used more as a place to lay Teddy. Over the winter, he's become more excited about it again. When he was 2, we required him to hold onto the bar to bounce. Now 3, he's much more stable, and we allow him to bounce not holding on (though sometimes he'll choose to hold on). He can now go from standing to sitting to standing, bouncing the whole time with a big smile on his face. It's definitely one of his most-used play items. And working off energy helps both him and us.
Customer Review: Sturdy, Easy to put together, great purchase Summary: 5 Stars
My son has Autism Spectrum disorder, and we had been looking at various trampolines, and we found this was a great fit for us. It is a bit larger than most, but what we've found over the past few days is that it is an advantage.
If the trampoline was smaller, when he falls on his butt, he'd actually fall off the trampoline head over heels -the extra 10-15 inches makes a big difference, as he just falls down on the padding & gets back up.
It was easy to put together, about 10-15 minutes, the only tool I needed was my rubber mallet, which made putting the frame together a bit easier. I can see why some people might have troubles, as some pieces fit very snug, but the mallet helped to coax the last 1/2 inch in a few places :-)
Very sturdy, I love the 6 legs, and my son has already spent hours bouncing on it - great deal!
Update (21 Jan 09):
We were at a friend's house & they had a smaller bouncer, brand name 'galt' or nursery bouncer, and what a difference it was. Our son went over to it, and he almost folded the legs and flipped over the bar. I didn't realize how lucky we were with this larger bouncer, but the smaller ones are actually a bit dangerous. This bouncer is so much more sturdy - my wife & him bounce on it together (~150 lbs combined - and yes I know it is supposed to be only for 100 lbs or less - but my point is how durable it is) and no problem. On the smaller one, it just stretches til your feet hit the floor. Definitely validated my decision to go with this one, even though it was more expensive.
Customer Review: Hours of Fun !! Summary: 5 Stars
We bought the Bazoongi 48" Bouncer for our granddaughter. She had enjoyed a similar one purchased at a yard sale. It wasn't the quality of the Bazoongi and the bungee cords underneath soon began to let loose. We didn't think it was safe any longer. Now she bounces, twirls, and has invented a kinds of clever fun moves on this little trampoline and she is only 2 1/2 years old! She delights in it and really gives herself a workout too which is so much better than watching T.V. It is made with heavy duty springs (not bungee cords) which will definitely make it safer and long lasting. It fits perfect in the corner of the living room, not taking up too much space but allows her parents to keep an eye on her while she jumps and bounces til her hearts content. The bar helps her to maintain her balance and it indicates that it can hold up to 110 lbs so I suppose older children would enjoy it too. It has given her self confidence, great exercise and has allowed her to expand her capabilities - become a little more self-assured and explore her creativity. All my grandkids will be getting one of these as they get to the appropriate age. Fun! Fun! Fun!
Customer Review: Couldn't be happier! Summary: 5 Stars
If I changed a single thing on this product, it would be the flimsy foam that wraps around the handlebar. I called to replace it and found it was about a $40 piece of foam, but I can buy pipe wrapping foam at my local hardware store for a few bucks. Once my younger child outgrows the desire to bite into it, I'll go that route. We placed this item in our playroom in front of the television (no seating available), so on the occasions that we do pop in a DVD, our kids end up jumping through the film rather than sitting on their duffs. Springs do break occasionally, but the company sells replacements at a reasonable cost. I bought a pack of 20 of them so I am prepared when one does break...maybe every 9 months or so. But I do have four kids age 1-9 so this things gets a lot of (daily!) use at my home, in addition to friends that think it's cool to have a trampoline INSIDE. The handlebar is definitely a plus, too. This was a replacement for a previous model we had that had a bungee-type cord holding the mat on...go for the springs and get one with six legs...this is very sturdy!
