Forget the futile U-shaped pillows - this is the next best thing since sliced bread and probably one of the most useful things $30 can buy. It's easily inflatable in 2.5 full puffs of air and conveniently fits in my purse (which is rather small in size compared to those trendy ginormous shoulder bags) when deflated. In use, it's almost like I'm leaning on my husband's shoulder but better because 1) I don't end up feel guilty for using my husband as a headrest for a 5-hour flight and 2) it's more comfortable than leaning on my husband because I didn't have to bend your head as far. I bought this pillow for a red-eye from CA to NY and was delighted that I got at least 3 straight hours of sleep; in the past, I considered myself lucky if I got more than 1 hour. And the icing on the cake? The exceptional customer service (a rare commodity these days) provided when I asked if I would and could get my pillow in time (as I procrastinated and waited until several days before my flight to place the order). FYI: I followed the advice from other reviewers and slung the pillow around me like a messenger bag - worked like a charm. I recently received this pillow as a gift for my upcoming travels. I took it on trip #1, and loved using it, but realized that it was not sealing properly and deflated very quickly. When I returned, I wrote the TravelRest company and asked them about their return policy. I had no box or receipt, but they were happy to send me a brand new pillow, second day air, so that I would have it for trip #2, which was long international voyage. I am writing this review from my European destination, and am happy to say I slept like a baby for several hours on the plane snuggled up with this pillow. Not only is the product fantastic and comfortable to use, but the people who are running the company are creative, generous, and very helpful. I hope that everyone who travels on planes gets one of these pillows. It should become a necessary accessory, just like an umbrella. I just cannot express how much I loved arriving at my destination with NO neck-ache, NO muscle-aches, and having had some real sleep on the airplane. I will never travel without it, and will certainly be getting it as a gift for others of my friends and colleagues who travel a lot.Customer Review: Comfortable, Easy to Use - Love this pillow

I've traveled by plane, boat, car, train - you name it and the one thing that's the same every time is that I can not rest or get comfortable while traveling. This pillow has changed that. It's super easy to use and is so comfortable. It blows up quickly and the little inflation spout is different than other pillows or inflatables - it doesn't let air out and is very easy to close fast. It has a tether that can go around a chair (perfect for flights or train rides) that's easy to tighten and loosen. Because it's connected to the chair back it doesn't move. My head doesn't fall off of it and it doesn't fall off of my shoulder. And because it's a long "swoop" shape, it crosses over my torso and lets me lean into it - kind of like a body pillow on a bed. This pillow is soft and feels good against my cheek, too. It deflates quickly and snaps right onto my luggage so that I can put it away really fast before I even get off the plane. When I was stuck in the airport b/c of weather and couldn't find a seat, I even slung the pillow's cord around my torso (like a messenger bag) and was comfortable sleeping upright against a wall. Hands down the best travel pillow I've owned. The support is great and it beats those neck U shaped pillows by a mile. I was actually able to sleep on a recent long haul international flight thanks to the travelrest pillow. It's so good my brother, cousin, and sister in law ended up buying them for their next trips. Whenever I wasn't sleeping they wanted to use it!
As someone else said, wearing it like a messenger bag is the best way to do it if you're trying to sleep on the plane, simply cuddling with it won't work because it'll be popping out of place even if it is just attached to the seatbelt. I'd also agree with bringing a pillow case from home maybe to cover it because it seems a little more "familiar" to the person wearing it, the suede is a little weird on the face. Grab a hoodie or blanket, and eye blinders and you'll be sleeping in no time with this pillow.
If you're planning on taking any long flights and have tried over and over again to find a good resting pillow look no further. Buy this and you will probably wonder how you ever made it through with the other types of pillow.

I highly recommend this pillow for flying! The U-shaped pillows do not work for me--not enough support. I try to travel light and between my computer and other carry on needs, a real pillow or non-inflatable pillow is just not an option. The travel rest pillow is easy to roll up and takes up practically no room in my carry on bag. It is easy and quick to inflate and deflate--no hyper-ventilation and I didn't notice any loss of air as my flights progressed! I "wore" the pillow like an arm cast or guitar strap so did not need to bother with attaching the cords to the seat behind me. This was quick and comfortable to do. The fabric that your head or face rests on is soft. My only recommendation is to wear a shirt with a more "regular" neckline because the very edge of the pillow would not be comfortable directly against one's skin. I had the opportunity to use the TravelRest pillow in an aisle, middle and window seat. I was comfortable using the pillow in all three! I actually slept for the first time when flying. I am delighted with this pillow and am glad it is on the market!
