A skimmer is the sort of handy tool to have in the kitchen that you don't think about until right at the moment when you need it, and then breathe a sigh of relief when you can immediately produce it. This is so cheap that it belies the quality of the piece. It works perfectly. The handle and basket are just the right size for...everything. I used it a few weeks ago to fry doughnuts. I've used it several other times but the examples aren't coming to mind. It really doesn't take up too much space in my utensil drawer because the handle isn't too big and other things just sort of tuck under the basket part.Customer Review: A Good Spider

Not much to say, after all it is simply a spider. It cleans up nicely and works well for skimming smaller items out of the pot when frying or boiling.
If you want a spider for larger things such as fish or chicken, you may want to go with the 7" version as 5" can be a bit small for that. Overall it's a great utensil and a must-own if you plan to do any deep frying.

This is FABULOUS! It's very well constructed ~ solid and sturdy. It's also dishwasher safe! What more can you ask for? The holes are small enough so your food doesn't drop through, yet large enough so oil quickly and easily drains. No kitchen should be without one of these! This has been the best scoop for deep frying that I have ever owned. You wouldnt know it until you actually use it but it allows you to remove both large and small objects from the boiling oil before they burn and with minimul effort. I have always adored these spider skimmers and I just had to have one in my kitchen. The tools is very sturdy and it does whatever you need it to do when straining from pots or pans and the handle remains cool at all times. Great gourmet kitchen tool
