This is like using a mesh strainer to pick up each piece of deep fried food. There is not a kitchen that should be without one of these because some things simply must be deep fried(I've been avoiding, but I got this for Chicken Fried Steak and it did amazing there). I have used it as well to pull out pan fried foods and drain as much grease as possible back into the pan to make a gravy with. This is a utensil that has far more uses than those that are immediately available to my mind, yet I have used it for all kinds of things already and I simply did not catalog them. Just buy one and let your imagination do the work!
Final notes, the quality is just fine. Secure connection and solid construction, albeit simple, but who says simple isn't the best? I use wood/bamboo utensils so the handle feels good in my hand. Overall, a great product that I am glad to have in my kitchen's repertoire.
