Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Breville 800JEXL Juice Fountain Elite 1000-Watt Juice ExtractorCustomer Review: This is a MONSTER JUICER !!! Summary: 5 Stars
This unit certainly typifies the old adage "you get what you pay for!"
Having gone through 3 other juicers, the Breville 800JEXL towers above the other brands with it's solid construction & thoughtful design.
I was impressed just by picking up the box! This machine weighs nearly 20 lbs and most of that weight is in the heavy duty motor
base. Removable parts are stainless steel and clean up much more
easily than cheaper competitors.
Everything about this juicer is professional grade. My wife
is ecstatic about how easily this machine devours large chunks of fruits and vegetables without so much as a hiccup. She has only
had to use the "high speed" option once, as the lower speed handles just about everything except for beets and other harder
than normal fruits.
As an aside, one of our neighbors purchased a "Jack L" juicer
at the same time we purchased this model. That machine self
destructed the very first time it was used to juice a beet! As
soon as it happened, she called us to find out where she could
get "a professional juicer" like ours....and to tell us that it would cost her another $10 just to return the defective juicer!
Don't even consider the units you see being hyped on TV. Pay
the extra $$ up front and purchase a juicer that will do the job and last for a few years. Now I just have to fight off the Grand kids that want Gramma to give them her juicer!
Customer Review: I bought this as a gift for a friend and decided that I needed one too Summary: 5 Stars
I have a friend who is into eating healthy (organic, locally grown, raw, etc.) but did not have a juicer. After doing some research I bought the Breville from Amazon as a gift for a couple of reasons. I have other Breville products and I trust them, also I liked what people had to say about the 800JEXL. I helped set it up and gave it an inaugural run. This product seems very well made but it does take up quite a bit of counter space once you have the pitcher and pulp container attached. The instructions were easy to follow and even had some recipes (including one for a Bloody Mary, one of my favorite drinks).
I started with carrots so I set the juicer on high as instructed. It sounded like a jet engine! I was surprised by that but quickly got used to it. The carrots went though really fast and I got more juice out of them than I expected. I then added celery and a bit of peeled ginger. It tasted like it could use some seasoning so I added a couple tablespoon of a prepared spicy Bloody Mary mix (which I just happened to have on hand). I really liked it and was amazed at how little time it took. I used a small plastic grocery bag in the pulp container so there was no need to clean it. The rest just came apart and went in the dishwasher.
The juice was not only tasty but reminded me of something that I would pay $5 for at a health food store. I was so impressed I ordered one for myself and I am very happy with my purchases. FIVE STARS from me!
Customer Review: Totally satisfies this newbie's needs Summary: 5 Stars
I have nothing to compare this juicer to like other experienced folks do as this is my first machine, nonetheless, I love it! It's a fairly heavy unit and takes up a decent amount of storage space but, it has a permanent place in my kitchen and heart. The juicer is attractive stainless steel that is super easy to assemble/disassemble and most importantly clean. Once my produce is ready, I can juice and have the machine cleaned and put away in less than 10 minutes time. I've juiced hard vegetables like sweet potatoes and beets with this machine and was amazed at the quick work it made of the large pieces that were barely small enough to fit in the feed tube, let alone the amount of juice it extracted. The byproduct pulp was fine and dry, and easy to clean up using the suggestion other reviews gave in placing a bag in the receptacle beforehand. Knowing nothing about juicing, I was afraid I would need a recipe book in order to create something enjoyable but realized it was just a matter of starting with what I like and experimenting from there...I couldn't be more pleased. It is somewhat loud but considering it only runs for a few seconds it does not offend me at all. Sometimes wet pulp can bubble out from under the plastic `hood' that goes over the pulp receptacle but, the easy way to deal with that is to raise the plastic bag up around the side before starting to juice...no drama at all. Though I did not buy from Amazon, I'm delighted with this purchase.
Customer Review: Excellent Juicer Summary: 5 Stars
Years ago I had tried two juicers: a Champion Juicer and a Juiceman. I knew the Champion was a great juicer, but I had little tolerance for the cleanup process. So I had switched to a Juiceman and used that for a few years. I recently decided to get back into juicing. I tried the Juiceman juicer and was satisfied with it overall, but the motor was having problems so I decided to look for a new juicer.
I know a masticating juicer like the Champion makes a top quality juice with minimal oxidation, but I know that I will not juice consistently if I find the clean up process a hassle.
The Breville 800EXL is a top quality centrifugal juicer. Cleanup is as easy as the Juiceman. I went with the 800 instead of the 510 because the middle part of the juicer - the part that surrounds the strainer basket/cutting blades, is made of stainless steel, not plastic (the top cover is still made of plastic). Anyway, I've been using this for two weeks now, and it does a good job making juice. I like how the pulp basket fits snugly (if you line it with a plastic bag) under the pulp chute so it doesn't make a mess. All the parts fit snugly, and the feed tube is extra wide so less time is spent cutting up produce.
I've juiced kale, spinach, parsley (on the low rpm setting, which is still rather high for leafy greens), and carrots and apples (on the high rpm setting).
Overall this is a quality product and I am happy with my purchase.
Customer Review: Great Product Summary: 5 Stars
I used this juicer for juice fasting and have used it about 5 times a day for the past month. I really recommend this product for anyone who wants to have a better life and clear mind. Pulp is as dry as pictures of pulp from masticating juicers- which are supposed to be better because they don't get as much air inside the machine since they operate at lower rpms...but I always drink mine right away so I don't think the nutrition is going to be much, if any, different. I haven't seen any actual evidence to support this claim anyway, so if there are real differences no one wants to publish them because they look so miniscule. Also, mine is incredibly fast to juice and takes less than a minute to clean.... which is NOT the case with masticating ones, so I went with this version and just use it on the low setting unless I have something really hard. Installing it is very easy, and it got here quickly. I love that it's stainless steel because you can tell when it's dirty and you can tell when you've effectively cleaned it! The base part is just sprayed stainless steel though, so be sure not srub it too hard... it doesn't get dirty, but still just stay away from it with commercial cleaners etc... I didn't and now have one small chipping spot on one part of the bottom edge. No biggie, but good to know I think. I LOVE how fast it is and there's no real cons to ad. I would buy again and I got my dad to get one too. Highly recommend.
