Customer Review: Not bad, if you like your Absinthe with not much sugar

This brouilleur is made of thick glass. Unless you drop it on the floor, I don't think you should worry about it breaking or chipping. It fits perfectly well-balanced on the Pontarlier Absinthe Glass, and you don't need an absinthe spoon when using it.
To use, pour your absinthe in your glass and place the brouilleur on top. Then put some ice cubes and a sugar cube on it, and fill it slowly with water. The water will dissolve the sugar cube and will pass through a tiny hole on the bottom of the brouilleur to your glass. The louche will develop very nicely, but not as slowly as with an Absinthe Fountain.
This is the first brouilleur that I have had experience with, and although classy, it left me with a slight bitter taste, if you pardon my pun. The reason is that the all the sugar did not pass though the hole, and some rests remained in the brouilleur.
If you like your absinthe with just water you can definitely enjoy the brouilleur; much more fun than using a carafe and not as expensive as a fountain. If you like to add sugar, you may not like how it performs, specially if you use more than one sugar cube. On the other hand, it is a nice and affordable collector item, and maybe you would be happy just taking out the ice and pouring some more water to wash out the sugar.
