I am a big fan of the Ginsu Knives. I have been using a double set of steak knives for over 35 years for everything. I have knife sets but none of them are sharp enough to cut a slice of bread. Recently i was reviewing knife sets on Amazon and found the Ginsu alive and well. I bought the stainless steel 14 piece knife block set and I am not surprised because I expected them to be sharp and good looking. They are exactly what I was looking for in a knife set. The prefessional feel and sharpness make chpping, slicing and cutting feel effortless. Unfortunately for Ginsu I will not need a knife set for another 35 years. I've owned this set for a few months now, replacing a cheaper set of Farberware, and am highly-satisfied. They are attractive, well-made, have a nice heft, and continue to cut well without sharpening (which is one of the primary reasons I purchased them). Though dishwasher-safe, I have chosen to wash them by hand to both preserve the edge and eliminate any possibility of corrosion. Another tip I picked up is to place the knives in the block upside-down, so that you're not pulling the blade across wood every time you remove them. I don't do this with all of them, as it didn't look very aesthetic, but do with the three in the middle (utility knives) which get used the most. A very nice set, well worth the money, just what I was looking for.Customer Review: Way better than expected!

Let's be honest, I'm totally cheap, so due to that fact every knife set I have owned has been a piece of crap... excluding this one. For the price it is spectacular. Out of the box the knives were all ridiculously sharp and I've had them for about six months now and they haven't dulled at all. Mine haven't rusted either but I don't put them in the dishwasher - it's not terribly hard to take a few extra minutes and hand wash them and if that means i get sharper knives for longer I'm down. When I bought these I was worried because ginsu was totally eighties infomercial stuff and i thought they might be low quality but I am desperately in love with these knives. I honestly don't think you can find better in this price range!Customer Review: Great knives!

These knives are definitely a step up from the cheap Wal-Mart and hand-me-down knives I had before. Who knew that knives could actually do what they were suppose to do...cut!
They add a nice modern look to my kitchen with the black and stainless steel and I have had no problems so far with the sharpness of the blades. My favorite is the bread knife. I bake my own bread at home and before I was just using a regular old knife to cut the bread. This bread knife has been things so much easier.
The only thing I have noticed is that if I put the knives in the dishwasher they come up with water spots all over them, especially on the handles. I just hand wash and dry them now to prevent that.

I was not expecting that much, given the low price point, but other positive reviews led me to make the purchase. I was initially suspicious of the serated edges, but they are on both sides of the knives and set a bit back from the blades. This prevents the knives from pulling to one side or binding like a saw does. A very nice, heavy feel and very sharp. My in-laws liked them so much that I bought a set for them. Easy to be generous at this price. By the way, I have not had any problem with rust spots and I always put them in the dishwasher. These knives are not as good the Wusthoff set I bought my parents, but much closer in quality than you would expect given that they are 90% less expensive.
