I had owned a Ginsu knife and started looking for others..after visiting Amazon.com if found the GINSU INTERNATIONAL TRADITIONS 14 PIECE BAKELITE KNIFE BLOCK SET..I immediately purchased one for myself and another one for a birthday gift ... the gift was perfect for the family and they have since removed all of the other knives(saved them for the grill cook and the outside). what a deal..the price was an unexpected pleasure and we would recommend this item.Customer Review: Solid Knife Set

I was a bit skeptical purchasing this set of knives, since I'd never actually bought knives before. I was pleasantly surprised to find what a solid set these are! All of the knives are slightly serrated and cut really nicely. I have had no problems cutting freshly baked bread, fruit or steak with these knives. I purchased this knife set to replace another set we had for 11+ years. I have to say I was impressed with quality of knifes and variety. The block they come in is great and makes for easy access. We haven't used all the knifes as of yet but those we have have worked great - very sharp. I purchased this set because of Ginsu name and quality and I'd recommend to anyone looking for a great knife set for the kitchen without breaking the bank.Customer Review: Wow! This is my first knife set I have ever bought (I just finished college!). I was looking around Amazon for an inexpensive, full set of knifes for general cooking/eating. These are REALLY nice knives and cut WAYYY better than Walmart knives at the same cost (probably will be the same quality at 2-3x the cost of Walmart knives).
One little con: it came with an extra pair of scissors as opposed to some other big knife...

Just got my Ginsu knife set and I'm still looking for things to slice. After years of going through the latest, overpriced, fashionable knife, it's nice to get back to a knife that does exactly what it was designed to do at an EXTREMELY reasonable price. I could have purchased the set with stainless steel handles but there's something warm and comforting about the feel of bakelite. I think anyone over 40 would agree.
