I bought these knives a few weeks ago so that I would have a nice knife set when I move into my new apartment next month. These knives are in storage right now, but they seemed incredibly sharp when I opened them upon arrival. They are attractive knives and seem like they will stand the test of time. I am a college student and on a tight budget, and I priced knife sets at numerous places before I bought these. The Ginsus were a great buy for the price. Most retail stores charge $40+ for their cheapest sets, and these are far superior in quality than all of the cheaper sets I looked at. While on a trip back home to visit family, I was invited to a home-cooked ham dinner by my Mom. When it came time to carve it, I was presented with the honors. I went through five carving knives from my Moms odd assortment, none of which would take an edge well enough to do the job. When I returned home I ordered this knife set and had it shipped to my Mom as a gift. Now she raves about how great they are every time I talk with her. I also gave the same set as a wedding gift, which was appreciated equally as well by the newly-wed recipients. You simply cannot go wrong buying this or any other GINSU knife set. This is the 3rd set of these knives I've gotten. The others were gifts and this set was my Christmas from my son and I love them! I don't cook a lot and so I've never bought a complete set before, but these were inexpensive (basically a whole set for the price of one or two knives), and they cut really well and I especially appreciate the super sharp steak knives. If you are reading these reviews because you can't decide whether or not to buy this set-the long and short of my opinion is buy these they're great!Customer Review: The best knives anywhere near the price range

I have a set of similar Ginsu knives I bought a couple of years ago here on Amazon, which have been holding up great. A friend commented on how great they are, so I bought this set for her - she's also very happy with the knives. They aren't perfect, nor are they as high quality as a $300 knife block, but they're close - and if they ever get dull or otherwise fail, I can buy a whole new block of knives and still be nowhere near the price of one of those fancier sets. All knives but one (Chef knife) are serrated.Customer Review: Fantastic set for the price...

I was weary ordering a Ginsu set because just the name gives me that 80s/90s infomercial vibe. But I decided to try this set and it's quite good for the price range. The knives are extremely sharp (I cut my fingers while washing dishes and didn't realize it until some dish soap made its way into the cuts!), are fairly well balanced and seem to be of good quality for the price. I've always liked the feel of Bakelite handles, so that was a plus. The knives and the block look great in my kitchen, as well.
