I've been looking for an affordable, nicely made recipe book for a long time and finally decided on this one. I wanted the option of using hand-written cards, typed-out recipes or recipes clipped from magazines and this was the best option that fit all of my needs. The book is sturdy, and while I prefer my cookbooks to be wire bound so they lay flat, I don't notice a problem with this one. It's easy to remove a page and use that when cooking rather than have the entire book on the counter. I don't usually pull the card out, so I am not sure if that is easily done or not. I tend to mess them up, so I leave them in the plastic sleeve and use them that way.
The design is fine, though I would have preferred something a bit more plan - but mostly I wanted function. I needed a good place to begin recording recipes I've collected and I like this one. I have also purchased the 5X7 and 8 1/2x11 pockets as well as the recipe cards and it all works very nicely together. The paper is strong and of high quality as are the plastic sheet covers - none of it feels cheaply made or flimsy.
