Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Fusionbrands 3-Inch Silicone Poach Pod Egg Poaching Tool, GreenCustomer Review: Outstanding Egg Poacher Summary: 5 Stars
Imagine this! Fill a sauce pan with water and set it on a burner until the water boils. Give two quick sprays of Pam (or similar product) into a Poach Pod. Then crack an egg into the Poach Pod and float it in the pan. Cover the pan with its lid so that steam cooks the top of the egg. Set a timer for 5 minutes. Pop some bread in a toaster. Pour a cup of coffee. When the buzzer sounds remove the egg from the Poach Pod and transfer to a bowl. Cover the bowl with the still hot lid while you wash out the Poach Pod. Add a dash of salt and pepper........there you have a perfect breakfast in about 7 minutes!
My daughter ordered several Poach Pods to give to friends as gifts. She took mine home with her when she finished her visit and left for home!!
Customer Review: Great little tool in the kitchen! Summary: 5 Stars
I have read other reviews saying the egg sticks to the pod - I've used mine at least 10 times and have never had that happen. I spray them with nonstick spray and if you just run a spoon around the edge, it pops out about half way around. The only trouble I have with it is getting it out of the water. As with other silicone cookware, the flimsy silicone is a little bit hard to work with, but using a slotted spoon works fine for me. The long and short of it is that these are much easier than the alternative for cooking poached eggs. One tip, though: If you're making eggs for two people (my husband and I usually each have 2) buy 4 pods because it takes 5 minutes to cook the eggs and you end up eating alone :)
Customer Review: Egg Poachers Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great product. They clean easily which has always been my pet peeve with other types of poachers that they are terrible to clean. They don't take up much space. Just fold them up and stuff them in a corner of a drawer. I also like they are made for high temperatures so if you start with boiling water there is no problem of melting them. You can even put them in the oven for some other dish seeing as they are heat resistant to 675 degrees; including dishwasher & microwave safe! They are also freezer proof although I can't think of any reason why I would use them in the freezer. Love the feel of them just to fiddle with; very flexible and soft yet spring back into shape to cradle an egg perfectly.
Customer Review: Perfectly Poached Summary: 5 Stars
Just perfect! I have never been a fan of sliding a raw egg into simmering water, and the traditional non-stick insert just never worked for me, so when I saw these, I thought, what the hey, I'll try them. Absolutely perfect! I used cooking spray to "oil" the pod, cracked the egg into it, salted and peppered and floated it in the simmering water. Set the timer to 4 minutes, which produced a perfectly set egg white and a nice runny yolk. I used a slotted spoon to remove it from the water, and did not have to turn it inside out, the egg just slid right out onto my toast. I'm sold and am going to purchase a set for my mom. This falls into the category of, "why didn't I think of this?"!
Customer Review: Works great! Summary: 5 Stars
I never usually do this kind of thing but I just had to write a review for these Poach Pods. I could never seem to make a poached egg without messing it up somehow and was always looking for a better way. Well, I finally found it. These are easy to use and as long as you follow the instructions correctly (such as greasing up the pods and putting a lid on the pot you are cooking in) the eggs come out perfect.
The first time I used them I greased one with cooking spray and one with butter just to see if there was a difference. I didn't notice any. Watch carefully because they do cook pretty fast though.
I love these and look forward to using them a lot more.
