Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Fusionbrands 3-Inch Silicone Poach Pod Egg Poaching Tool, Green

Customer Review: Brilliant little cookers
Summary: 5 Stars

I love these little guys: They make fantastic "poached" eggs, they're compact, and they clean up in a snap. I really don't get most of the criticisms; just follow the instructions to the letter and you can't go wrong. Make sure to grease the insides -- the whole surface, not just the bottom. I take a little butter or olive oil and smear it around, very easy. Also, the water should be at a full boil when you add the eggs, and you'll need a pan or pot with space to spare (I have a frying pan with a nice domed lid, which does the trick). The lid is crucial; I can't imagine they work with an uncovered pot. I also don't put my pods in the dishwasher. They wash up easily and dry upside down in minutes.

The one criticism I actually buy is that they don't really poach eggs -- it's a somewhat different effect. But the result is beautiful, perfectly suitable for eggs benedict (at least for most people), all with minimal mess.

Customer Review: These are kind of adorable.
Summary: 5 Stars

Well you need a deep (at least a few inches) pan and a lid for it and a little bit of oil or shortening for the 'pod'.

I don't know anything about poaching eggs so it was an experiment for me and my 13 year old.

It does pop out a perfect shaped little egg, with either a soft or medium or firm yolk depending on how long you cook it.

It is a little difficult to know exactly how long to cook it to vary that yolk, but I guess practice tells.

It does seem pretty easy to clean. It was easy to put in the water and take out. It was easy to get the eggs out.

I can't think of much more to say about it. It does what it says it does as far as I'm concerned and looks cute doing it.

The package is one middling-green and one light-green (not the two dark shown in some of the pictures here).

Customer Review: If I could give the poach pods 6 stars...
Summary: 5 Stars

I would!! I love this product. The first time I used it, I had perfectly poached eggs. I simply sprayed the inside of each pod with a very quick blast of Pam, put them into a saucepan with about 2" of simmering water and waited 6 minutes. I removed the pods with a slotted spoon and turned them upside down over my toast. Eggs slid right out! I do not taste ANY kind of plastic-y, rubbery taste on my eggs as other reviewers have noted. Absolutely nothing but the taste of the eggs.
I had thought my days of poached eggs were over. My mom had a large 6-egg aluminum poacher when I was a kid, and my favorite dinner was poached eggs on toast. I don't have room for that poacher and I didn't want a big pan to clean. I think the method of cracking an egg directly in water is, well, not for me. I don't want water-logged eggs. I am very happy with this purchase.

Customer Review: Fusionbrand Poach Pods
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm a first time egg poacher. Tried just doing it in water without anything and it did work, tried it in the microwave with this plastic thing, I got at Wal-Mart, couldn't get the yellow to do as I wanted. These pods are working best for me. I got my time down now and it turns out exactly the same every time. They are easy to use and easy to clean up, even if you forget to oil them first!!! It happens! The best way for me is to bring the water to a boil, put in the pods with the egg in them and wait till I see a white ring form, set timer to five minutes, turn fire down to a simmer, cover with lid. Buzzer goes off. I take them out by hand and dump them in my plate. Perfect every time. I like my yellow runny and the white done. That's the way they come out. Going to have to buy me two more, I like three eggs sometimes!
I recomend these to everyone.

Customer Review: Great Design
Summary: 5 Stars

I've had these for a couple of years now and they are great! I was not sure about getting them because of the initial price and because I kind of hate kitchen "gadgets/tools" with only one function. Poached eggs are probably our favorite way to eat eggs so these are something we use frequently and have been well worth the price.

I do always spray a little cooking oil spray into them before use so the eggs come out perfectly. I usually cook them in a sauce pan, not a frying pan as pictured. In the sauce pan (with a lid) the steam is just right to get the tops nice and done without cooking the yolks, you'll probably have to play with the time a bit to get it just right. Depending on the amount of water I usually set a timer for around 4 minutes. To clean I just pop them in the top rack of the dishwasher; will be buying more for sure.
