Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Fusionbrands 3-Inch Silicone Poach Pod Egg Poaching Tool, Green

Customer Review: Terrific way to poach eggs!
Summary: 5 Stars

I've been looking for some type of egg poaching pan or device for a long time, particularly one *without* a nonstick coating. After reading the reviews here, I decided to try the Poach Pods and I'm very pleased. I've used them three times so far. Though the eggs have been good each time, the third time was the charm that produced perfect results suited to my personal taste. I rubbed some olive oil inside the pods and used a large sauce pan (instead of a saute-type pan) with lid. That way, more water can be added to the pan allowing the pods to float better, and there is more "head room" between the water level and the pan lid so the steam circulates well. I like my poached eggs with a thoroughly cooked white and a soft yolk. Six minutes was the perfect cooking time. I removed the pods from the water with a large slotted spoon and placed them on a paper towel on the counter. Rather than trying to flip the hot eggs out of the pods, I used a spoon to gently guide them along, and they slid right out on top of the waiting toast. How nice to end up with the entire egg, as opposed to losing half the white in the water as with the traditional poaching method. Washing these by hand is a quick and effortless task, so putting them in the dishwasher really isn't necessary (in my opinion). And the pan can be swished with a soapy sponge -- no more scrubbing! Poach Pods get two thumbs up from me. Enjoy!!

Customer Review: Outstanding repeatable poached eggs
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought these for a party where I was serving Poached eggs.
Now I have poached eggs once a week with these and serve poached eggs at dinner party on a regular basis.
The poach pods are easy to use with a spray of PAM or rub of oil they make perfect Poached eggs every time.
All you need is a skillet or pot with a cover. Then after about 4 or 5 minute take a peak and see if they look done or not.
The eggs just slide out perfectly. The are good for custards and chocolate melting too. I bought a second set because they were so good.
Since the poached eggs are consistently shaped and very robust (do not easly break apart) one can make the poached eggs in advanced for big parties and then reheat the eggs in boiling water for about 45 seconds. This is great for a brunch or big dinner party.
I am thinking about getting another set.
Clean up is very easy.
Take almost no storage space.
Make good little prep dishes for cooking prep to.
10000% easier than the swirl water let it stop poached egg method.
Very pretty poached eggs too.
If you are looking for a good Breanise Sauce or Hollindaise Sauce see Michael Rauhlman's book Ratio. I like serving Breanise with Toast, poached eggs, apparagus, and very nice sausage.

MUCH MUCH BETTER THAN METAL POACHER Review: soft boiled egg lover- these are GREAT!
Summary: 5 Stars My wife and I enjoy soft boiled eggs. I used to put the eggs out overnight, bring water to boil, boil the eggs for 3.5 minutes and top the eggs in those little egg cups. Problem was, the toppers did not make a large enough hole for a standard spoon. You're supposed to use a smaller spoon, just for this purpose. Great, another single purpose utensil! And the egg shells did not crack open easily nor neatly.

Enter this product. Boil water. Spray pods w/veg oil. Start timer at 5 minutes. Crack open eggs over pods. Cover. Turn down heat to simmer. When timer rings, remove pods with slotted spoon. Run regular spoon, the one you're gonna eat with, around edges of egg in pod. Dump into bowl. Eat.

Later, wash out pod, place upside down in dishwasher.

IOW, follow the directions, and it works perfectly, cleans easily and is far better than the old way of soft boiling eggs.

BTW, I believe the pods are 3 cornered, not 4 cornered, to encourage you to follow the directions and use a slotted spoon, rather than your hands. MUCH safer that way.

SIMPLE product, SIMPLE process. Rarely am I so fully satisfied with a product of any description.

I won't be soft boiling eggs anymore. Might buy more pods, for when we have guests. Or don't run the dishwasher every night.

Customer Review: One set is not enough!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have owned these poach pods for over a year (maybe two), and they work exactly as advertised. Be sure to grease them well (I use a non-stick spray with great result) before each use. The suggestion about removing them from the hot water with a slotted spoon works perfectly, but sometimes I just grab the edge with a pair of tongs (the spoon method is better). I have several pair of these, and have used them many times. I find that 5 minutes is the preferred cooking time for our eggs, but if someone wants eggs cooked to a different doneness, just remove individual pods from the water at different times. The pods are extremely compact, and are therefore perfect to carry in the camp gear. We also use these handy little pods to warm sauces or butter over boiling water (especially handy in camp where there is no microwave), and I use them for muffins or bigger-than-bitesized brownies as well. They also make fine prep bowls. Clean-up is always a breeze! If you choose to wash them in the dishwasher (top rack only), be sure to put one of the little spikes thru the hole in the poach pod. But clean up is so easy, I usually just hand wash them.

If you like poached eggs, but don't like the swirling water method, get these poach pods, follow the directions, and enjoy!

Customer Review: Easy, simple, great!
Summary: 5 Stars

Using boiling water to poach my eggs created too much mess and hassle for me. I needed something that could produce perfect poached eggs that was easy to use, mess free and of low cost. These Fusionbrands Poach Pods have not failed me!

Having carefully read the guidance provided with the Poach Pods, I have had the most perfect poached eggs. Lightly greasing the pods with a touch of oil (recommended) prevents them from sticking, I had no problem with contents spilling out when left on the counter top and could easily place them in my boiling pan of water.

I do not like to follow set times for cooking my poached eggs, but prefer to look at the consistency of the egg as it is cooking. When the time came to serve my eggs lightly running a spoon around the edge of the egg allowed a simple, break-free release of my egg. Perfect, and no funny taste! I can only think that if the pods aren't washed thoroughly before first use that a strange taste could occur. They're easy to clean, I put them in my top shelf of the dishwasher and use the holes in the side to secure the pod to the shelf for cooking. Again, all recommended in the guidance provided with the pods.

For hassle free poached eggs, I couldn't ask for anything better!
