Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Fred Cool Shooters Shot Glass MoldCustomer Review: misconceptions Summary: 5 Stars
Most people complain about how holes form or they get slippery as they melt or the bottoms don't stay flat. They are looking at in the wrong way. If you have a party coming up, plan ahead, make lots of shots and leave them out of the mold in the freezer.
Here's why: People will not be able to tell they are just ice at first glance. Get a friend or two to take a shot with you and then violently throw down and shatter the glasses on the ground. It is incredibly fun and hilarious as you confuse and mystify your guests. What I am trying to say is just don't expect to use them more than twice. And if you have to, make them out of hard candy or something else... which brings me to my next point, try some hard chocolate or anything you can think of, they will make your night.
Customer Review: These work but need patience Summary: 5 Stars
These work great but are definitely just a novelty. As an actual cup/shot glass, these do poorly. Hard to hold on to, melt rather quickly and you can get your lips stuck to the cup. Despite this I still give it 5 stars. No one should buy these expecting to replace all their kitchen cups with these. They have been a hit at parties, especially outdoor/patio ones. People take a shot and just throw the glass in to the yard. Here in Florida, it melts quick.
I will admit that maybe 20% of the time, I get one of the cups that's unusable once it's frozen due to bubbles and such. I don't blame the product since it is simply a mold. But make sure to prepare well in advance for a party if you use these. Using koolaid in the mold also gets a cool (but sticky) result.
Customer Review: Really Cool - no pun intended Summary: 5 Stars
Actually the pun was intended... This product was exactly what I had expected and I couldn't be happier. Nice thick piece of silicon and the cubes popped right out after freezing (just run the holder under warm water for a few seconds). The textured bottom is a nice touch and makes them seem like they are really glass. I'm not sure how well the actual ice cube shot glasses are going to function but this holder certainly did its part of the job. I actually just ordered 2 more sets and I would recommend buying at least 2 because... well... the more drinks the better and they are ice after all which means they will melt. Not to mention these things are CHEAP. Practical = no, fun= yes, worth it= absolutely.
Customer Review: What a fun item! Summary: 5 Stars
Originally I received this from a friend as a gift and we've had so much fun with it that I bought it for a girlfriend that was turning 21. These are great because it's silicone and they come out of the mold pretty easily. Here are my suggestions to anyone that purchases them: Use a cold beverage in them otherwise they start to melt to quickly. To make more than the four, store them in the freezer on wax paper after removing. Try something fun like adding a bit of grenadine or lime juice after filling with water, it'll settle on the bottom which will end up being the rim of the shot glass and it'll give a bit of flavor with your shot.
Customer Review: Awesome Novelty Summary: 5 Stars
This mold works phenomenally. I got it for a white elephant gift exchange and ending up just keeping it cause it's so cool. I've only made chocolate shot glasses(for bailey's), but I assume that making shot glasses out of water is just as easy. I melted down some chocolate chips in a double pot thingy and then poured the melted chocolate right in. Tapped the mold a bit to get bubbles out and set it in the fridge. The next day they looked and worked beautifully. Granted, it takes a lot of chocolate and the chocolate kinda melts to your hands, but it's no supposed to be practical, just fun and attention grabbing.
