Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Fox Run Ten Piece Gingerbread House Cookie Cutter Bake SetCustomer Review: good for small house Summary: 3 Stars
it is a good set for a single shape and small house there is no way to make it larger I was hopeing that there was. but the pieces are formed to only make one sized house. this is a great size for group house makeing.
it isworth the price for that... It would make a great basket type gift just add all the suppiles
Customer Review: Flimsy at most Summary: 2 Stars
I bought this hoping that the other reviews weren't true, but they were. This is a climsy cutter set. Granted, it does make a cute house. You just have to be careful and gentle. I like the house it makes because it's bigger and a little different than just a boxy house. I made a few for people from this and it worked okay. I just wish it was made of more surdy material.
Customer Review: Fox Run Ten Piece Gingerbread House Cookie Cutter Bake Set Summary: 2 Stars
The cutters were alittle unstable when you press them onto the dough so it kind of comes out irregular and not perfect. The recipe given is a really bad one because I'm a pastry student and i've seen better and done recipes that comes out great.
Customer Review: not sturdy enough Summary: 2 Stars
The cutters are flimsy and do not keep their shape. It makes it harder to put house together.
Would prefer plastic cutters.
Customer Review: Very poor product, Summary: 1 Stars
We wasted a lot of time on this before the house collapsed. Let's start with the gingerbread recipe itself. I decided to make it figuring that it would make enough for this particular house. It's a very poorly-written recipe (ignorant of such basics as recipe ingredients are listed in the order in which they are used). Nevertheless, I was able to fix it on the fly and the pieces were fine. Well, except for the fact that the cutters are not square and the gingerbread bakes up with bowed edges rather than straight. This is, I believe, the core of the failer of this item.
Ok, next, the icing recipe. Unworkable in my opinion. As written, it creates such a stiff icing that you cannot get it out of your pastry bag; in fact it split mine. I tried to loosen it up then it was too loose. I ended up making royal icing which was ok but not stiff enough. But it allowed me to assemble the house and my daughter then spent an hour adding the candy only to have the roof slide off and the walls cave in. Adding up the time I spent making the gingerbread, making the icing (three times) and my daughter decorating, we wasted a lot of time. Plus it was disappointing to my daughter.
In short: don't buy this.
