I was new to canning so bought this set. I think that if I were starting again, I would just buy a steel funnel and a lifter.Customer Review: Too much for too little.

If you are a beginning canner you might need some of these pieces. I like the jar holder and the tongs. I have also used the colander but the other items were not needed. The magnetic pieces do not work in the water where I tried to use them, and the plunger air remover wasn't needed, I just rattled the jar to remove air.
