Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Forever Espresso Miss Moka 3 Cup Espresso Maker.Customer Review: Americanos, Mochas, Cappucinos, oh my Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this after a friend from Italy showed me how to use a Moka pot (he travels around the world with his), and used the same beans I use in my drip maker to make 10x better coffee. I buy locally roasted beans, grind in my cheapy electric grinder about 30 seconds, and mostly follow the instructions another reviewer posted below to actually make the coffee. I have a gas stove, so I set the flame to medium/low, so all of the flame sits under the pot, and starting with cold water from my Brita pitcher, it takes about 3 minutes to make the coffee. During that time I microwave about 1/2 cup milk in a mug, pull it out and froth it using one of those $1.99 battery-operated frothers. Then when I hear the coffe gurgling, peak (from a distance!! It could sputter out!!) under the lid so see how much is there. The moment the top cup fills almost to the bottom of the spout, turn off the heat and drink. Don't let the coffee start boiling in the top compartment, it will taste burnt! I pour it into my frothed milk and add a little sugar for a cappucino. Or add some chocolate syrup for a mocha. Or add hot water for an americano. Or drink it straight. I love love love it. I have used it for a month now and haven't touched my drip maker. Or been to Starbucks wasting my money and creating more trash.
BTW, this brand seems very comparable to the "other" Italian-made brand out there. Also, to use the first time, wash in hot water, no soap, and make a couple pots of weak coffee to throw out. This allows a film (patina) to form over the metal and prevents a metallic taste. And then, rinse out between uses with water only and leave apart to dry.
Customer Review: Love this Little Pot Summary: 5 Stars
It's really funny to me how people want to over complicate stuff. Want a mocha? This thing is a snap. It's cheap compared to the machines, it doesn't break down as easy and if it does the gasket is cheap and easy to replace. And most of all... it makes Great Coffee if you use Great Coffee Beans. Not like those electric pieces of crap sold by the hardware manufactures. I love this little guy so much I bought one for my team at work and plan to buy more for my friends. If you have ever heard of "The Latte Factor" this thing is a GOD send if you have to cut back on your $3.00 a day Mocha. Giggle. I can't recommend this bad boy enough other than flat out saying it makes great coffee (if you use the right beans), at a great price, and it's easy to use.
Customer Review: It's supposed to be small... Summary: 5 Stars
I am posting this review to balance the incorrect review of "Loki" below, who rated this product a "1" because of her misunderstanding of the product rather than the product itself. Her reason for rating it a "1" is that it is "too small." Having lived in Italy for 3 years, I can say with certainty that it is the correct size to make 3 cups of Italian coffee/espresso. One can always add hot water to make an "Americano" and fill a larger cup/mug.
Customer Review: the little pot that rocks Summary: 5 Stars
I've been buying moka pots for years. I have one stainless steel large one and always use a small one for myself. I admit, I go with the cheap end of things for the small one and replace it every year. This little pot is far and away the best I have had. It pours well, makes great coffee (I'm a coffee snob) and has kept it's beautiful look. VERY worth it to spend the extra couple of dollars for the quality.
Customer Review: Miss Moka 3 cup Espresso maker Summary: 5 Stars
Love, love, love this little pot. I was going to the coffee shop every morning and waiting 15-20 minutes for my latte. Now I have my latte in about 5 minutes. I won't even go into the savings. I now know what I will be giving for my espresso loving friends for Christmas. I'm glad I trusted the reviews on Amazon regardng this product.
