I bought the original Foodsaver many moons ago when it was offered on an infomercial. I've had it probably about ten years give or take. It still works! I bought this one because my son kept coming over and using mine, plus I thought it would be handy to have the cutter and a place to keep the roll. This works every bit as good as my original, but is easier to use due to the handle lock on the side. Mine came with two canisters. On Thanksgiving weekend, I thought I'd test them to see what they could do. I opened a bag of baby carrots with an expiration date of Dec. 4 and dumped them in & vacuumed it. I just pulled out the last of them yesterday (Jan. 23)to add to a pot roast and they were still fresh! That's 50 days beyond the expiration date! In the second canister I peeled and cut up two large onions. It was so convenient to just open the canister, grab a handful of onion & vacuum. So far it is working every bit as good as my old one - which is now being shared between my son and my parents.
