Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Fleabusters Rx for Fleas Plus

Customer Review: The Flea: my arch enemy
Summary: 5 Stars

We bought a new house about 2 years ago and moved our 4 year old cat, who lives only indoors and had never had fleas, with us. One day a couple months after we moved in I noticed him scratching and upon combing noticed he was covered in fleas. I started with what I had used when my previous cats had escaped - daily combing, flea baths, and vacuuming. It didn't work, and only got worse from there. Over the next year I tried every flea remedy I could think of including powders, sprays, baths, natural remedies, pesticides - I even had a bug company come and spray to kill them twice over 2 months. We had to be gone for 4 hours, take our cat somewhere hoping he didn't take fleas there, and open the windows when we got back because the house still stunk. I had also been treating the cat with all kinds of flea killer things from Frontline and others. Ended up with BioSpot as I felt it was a little less toxic. The numbers decreased a little, and a few times I thought we had got rid of them, but I had no such luck.
I live in Florida so there is no flea "season". A friend of mine who used to work as an exterminator suggested maybe the fleas were outside and were hitching a ride on our ankles as we walked in, I don't know where else they could come from when our cat never goes out and the people who lived here before us didn't have any pets, but it was driving me out of my mind.
After that year we got an older puppy during one of the lulls when I thought they were gone. I was wrong. When I took the puppy to the vet for her shots I told the vet about my ordeal and she recommended I call FleaBusters. If I would have known how well it worked I would have hugged her right there. I called as soon as I got home and was told they do not service my area, but the warranty would still be good if I applied it myself. If it hadn't been for the year warranty I don't know if I would have because I had already spent over [...] trying to kill the fleas and I was very skeptical at this point to waste any more money. And a year seemed like a long time for one treatment to last. I did ask about the yard treatment and they told me it was not necessary, would just help them to go away faster; they could have gotten some extra sales from me but didn't because they were honest and I really respect that. I didn't have any extra money to blow and wasn't really sure it'd work so I skipped that part.
I followed the instructions to apply the powder, mostly. I really didn't believe it would work so I did not move any furniture and since most of my house is carpet I didn't even apply it to the tile. I figured if the fleas improved I could have my husband help me apply it to the rest of the house later. It was a little work, but so worth it. The powder does stir up when you "sweep" it in, so I wore a bandana around my face after the first 2 rooms and that took care of it. The best part for me was that I did not have to kick my pets out to do it. I treated one half of the house, waited about 15-20 min for the dust to settle, and put the animals in the treated part while I did the other half. It said to wait 24-48 hours to vacuum, but my vacuum had broke the week before so it was more like a couple weeks, but within that time I could tell the numbers were decreasing. After about a month I was flea free, and have been for almost a year. I don't have to "treat" either of my animals anymore with flea products, and though I still comb them for shedding control have not seen a single flea since. I will never waste another dollar trying to fight fleas. The Fleabusters was so easy, and after a year of frustration it is such a relief. I'm sure that Calvin, my cat, also appreciates not being bitten and having to get anymore baths! I would recommend this to anyone. It is very important to follow the instructions and cover electronics and live plants or they will get dusted. Maybe if you have allergies you could have someone else do it, but the dust settled quickly and did not seem to have any smell. It was 100% worth the money and the work to get rid of what had become my arch nemesis.
