I planned to let my left-handed daughter learn how to adjust to cutting with right handed scissors since she won't always have access to special scissors. When I got a note home from her teacher that she needed to work on her cutting, I bought these to try them out.
The difference is amazing. When I tried using them in my right hand, I felt so bad for forcing her all this time.
Do not be misled - there is no such thing as "left or right handed scissors," which only refers to the contour of the grips. The difference is in the blades, and without the correct layout, it's impossible to cut on the lines without having to overcompensate.
Do your kids a favor and get them the right scissors. I bought 2 more pairs of these so she'll have some at school and a few at home.

These scissors are great for my left-handed son and daughter. It's too bad that you can't buy them in stores, so thank goodness Amazon offers them for less than buying them off the Fiskars website. These are true left handed scissors with the blades reversed so a lefty can see what they are cutting. The ones you buy in the store, which state "for right or left handed use" are deceptive because they are only referring to the handles being suited for either hand, not the blades. I am right-handed and have tried to cut with these scissors to see what left-handers go through and I am so glad that they make these so that using scissors is much easier for lefties!Customer Review: Great Product - Outrageous Price

This is a great product for left handed children. They are true left handed scissors with the blades in the proper orientation. However, DON'T BUY THEM HERE!! $9.15 for a pair is outrageous. On the Fiskars site, they are only $5.45 a pair and at Office Supply Mart Online, they are only $3.39 a pair. Curiously, just one month ago, here on Amazon, they were only $3.99 a pair. I asked Amazon to explain the price difference, but got a canned answer back about how their prices fluctuate. Getting these scissors was the best thing I could have ever done. My 5 yr. old son is left handed and was having such a difficult time using all the other scissors. Mostly, he would hold them upside down. I tried the ambidextrous scissors but he still hated cutting. These scissors are TRUE lefty scissors. The blade opens opposite of right handed scissors. From the first day using these scissors he has never had a problem. I bought two pairs, so I could send one pair to school and even his teachers were amazed!! My son uses his left hand to cut and we couldn't find left handed scissors locally for him to take to school. These are perfect for smaller hands and are true left-handed scissors (the blades are reversed from right-handed scissors). We bought two pairs - one for school and one for at home. I only wish I had bought more because I'm sure they will get misplaced at some point and then I will have to buy more. At least I will know where to get some good ones!
