I'm learning the joys of ultralight backpacking, where a heavy pack doesn't quench the joy of the trail. However, in order to truly go ultralight, even tiny weight savings count.
This scale makes it easy to weigh everything from floss to a core pack (which ideally should weigh less than eleven pounds before adding food, clothes, and water).
I chuckled about recommendations to cut half the handle off a toothbrush until this scale verified I had cut considerably more than half the weight. My camp sandals didn't seem like big deal until I realized they weighed as much as four pairs of light flip-flops. I also found that advertised weights for outdoor gear are sometimes inaccurate due to undocumented design changes.
This scale is small and light enough to take to the store and weigh items before buying. If you are spending big bucks for backpacking gear, this inexpensive scale will help you spend that money more wisely and can quickly pay for itself.

I was looking for a scale that was versatile I wanted to use it for baking as well as for weighing my own packages at home.
I sell here and there on Ebay and maybe Amazon soon too and printing my own labels at home is so much easier not to mention the post office & Ebay gives you a discount. Now I can take advantage of the free pick up USPS offers and make perfect bread too .
(Remember the weight limit is 11 pounds) I use a small flat board and press the tar button.
Great for bulk cooking or OAMC and weighing meat you want to freeze if you buy in large ammounts, just cover in plastic first.
Update- I am very impressed as I found yet another use for this. I buy gold as an investment and to wear and this scale measures accurately in both grams and ounces (grams are not fractional so it does round the number) . you can switch back and forth with the press of 1 button . Now I can always be sure I am getting what I pay for .

This is an item for me which has moved from "nice to have" to "must have."
Prior to this I had an old manual scale and of course this is no comparison.
Things I love about it include its portability and light weight (takes up little space). It's accurate. It has an auto-shutoff and is easy to tare. The price is not exorbitant.
I find myself using it more than I ever thought I would for weighing ingredients for recipes, dividing bread dough into even loaves/segments, splitting recipes in half, I could go on and on.
I like to grind my own meats and freeze in half pound increments. This little scale fits easily in a clear gallon sized storage bag where it can weigh things while staying sanitary. Great!
I love it and am always finding new uses for it. Which is a sign of a great kitchen tool.

I have had my Escali digital scale for about a year now, and use it for everything from large amounts of flour to the tiniest amounts of seasonings, and have been very pleased with it's accuracy. It's also nice that it has an auto-shutoff feature to save batteries, because I forget to turn it off all the time!It's small and can be stored easily, is very easy to wipe clean, and I like the price tag- I've seen similar scales selling for twice as much elsewhere.
I have to mention that this scale is also a really durable little guy! My scale fell off the top of my refrigerator (nearly 7 feet), and bounced off of the freezer door on the way down, and yet it tuned on right away and was still in perfect working order. That was a few months ago and it's still accurate down to a few grains of salt.
I'd recommend this scale and brand to anyone!

I was a bit skeptical over whether or not we needed a kitchen scale at all, but my husband wanted one for his birthday, so I picked this one out for him on Amazon because of all the positive reviews. To my surprise, I found myself using the scale quite frequently for international recipes that call for ingredients in weight, and it performs beautifully. I've had excellent success with these recipes thanks to the scale- and I appreciate its light-weight, yet sturdy construction. I can't tell you how many times I've dropped the scale out of sheer clumsiness and yet it still works perfectly and accurately. It's also really easy to store out of the way on a shelf because it is so slim and lightweight. I love this scale and would totally buy it again or buy it as a gift for other cooking enthused friends. :)
