I had one of the older versions of this cooler for about 18 months, after which the internal circuitry went dead bug and it would not cool below 65 degrees F, ran constantly and noisily. I checked with a repair facility and they could not do anything with it. Bought a new one, the same as advertised here, about 6 months ago through Amazon for about 60 bucks and it has done quite well. Took about four hours to drop the temp to 55 degrees F with 8 bottles of wine in it, and the temp has stayed there since. Rarely runs and it is very quiet, compared to the old one - which I bought directly from Target and they would not provide any assistance. I think the new one has different circuitry inside, it does not have a filter like the old one, and so far I think it is ok. I also bought a 3 year warranty for this one for another 40 bucks, just in case. I've also bought two more as gifts and so far the recipients are quite happy. I think Emerson may have solved the long-time problem with the older models.
