Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of EdgeCraft 610 Chef's Choice Premium Electric Food SlicerCustomer Review: Exerllent food slicer Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this slicer in November 2008 and have been happy with the product since then. It's been working perfectly and fit all our needs. We normally used it to slice half frozen meat. We cut lamb and beef to paper thin slices for hot pot or beef to 2-3mm for bulgogi(Korean grill). It can make the work done quickly. I actually enjoy to operate this machine and help friends to prepare their food as well. It's a very worthy purchase and we highly recommended to our friends. Before I bought it, I checked the reviews here and also a friend who had owned this product for a couple years. Some people also my friend complained the plastic screw to cover the blade looks fragile and has to be removed with care. It seems this problem has been fixed. Now there is a notch on the cover and you can easily twist it with a quarter coin to open or fasten it.
Customer Review: Look no further Summary: 5 Stars
Wanting a food slicer I was hesitant and confused by all the different choices and reviews out there. I chose the 610 based reading all the reviews and reviews of others. This slicer is everything it is advertised to be. The unit is built sleekly compactly and of great quality. Out of the box I found it to easily and precisely slice a large roast to any thickness I set with the very accurate depth gauge. Cleanup, removing all parts and reassembly took less than 3 minutes even stopping to investigate the parts. The blade retention screw is simple and unfoulable as long as you remember to unscrew clockwise. I too ordered the non serrated blade prior to receiving the machine based on other reviews and with the way the serrated blade included with the slicer performed wonder if the other blade will be needed. The slicer is a "best buy".

I had one of the plastic slicers for the last 20 years. The slices were uneven, because the plastic would flex, consequently I used it only when I made french dip. We decided to pay the little extra for this slicer and it worked great. I will be using it for a lot of other preparations that I could not with the old one. I read the reviews before I purchased it and greatly disagree with the reviewers who rated it as inferior. It is much easier to clean then my old one. The CRITICAL parts are metal. As for the complaint of the holding screw for the blade being to cheaply made, or hard to remove, I would recommend that they buy a professional slicer as they won't be happy with anything else. Get a life; you get what you pay for and can afford. I don't write reviews on products I purchase, so you can believe I'm very pleased!!!!!!
Customer Review: If you are looking for a commercial slicer.... Summary: 5 Stars
If you are looking for a commercial slicer don't buy this one. It will only give you a reason to gripe! It is not a commercial grade slicer but it does not claim to be.
But if you are looking for a good household slicer, this is a good deal for the price. I have owned mine for more than two years and have sliced everything from semi-frozen meat to cheese to tomatoes to potatoes. I have even used it to take corn off of the cob for freezing.
We do a lot of entertaining and I have used it to slice meat and vegtables thin enough to put on a stone for cooking. I have used it to make 2 inch square blocks of raw meat to put into stews. I have used it to slice brisket, sausage and chicken off the pit. I do not put commercial demands on it and have yet to be disappointed in it's performance.
Customer Review: Perfect Summary: 5 Stars
I had no idea the full utility of a food slicer in a household kitchen but since getting my EdgeCraft 610, I am finding new ways everyday to use one. Cheese, Bread, Meat, Zucchini; you name it this slicer works on everything and it is so easy to clean that I don't dread using it like some other appliances that make it such a chore to clean you just decide not to use it. It is extremely durable, easy to handle, easy to clean. It has built in safety features and is also a wonderful size, big enough to do roasts but yet small enough to store in any cupboard. The size of cut is adjustable so I can make meat so thin that it is even perfect for Korean Bulgogi. I am rarely completely impressed with a product but I can say that this one made my short list of products that I would recommend to everyone with no reservations.
