I ordered four EcoBags, one of which frayed at a seam when washed. When I related this information to EcoBags, I received an apology via e-mail and within a couple of days received a new bag. This bag withstood the wash test and I am very happy with their bags (which are a very good size) and their prompt response. This bag is great for fitting a ton of groceries. I bought 3 originally and could fit almost a whole shopping cart into those bags. They have held up nicely, are capable of carrying a large amount of items, and are easy on my shoulders and back. I read the reviews for this product and decided to purchase five bags. I am pleased with the quality and size of the bags. As other reviewers have mentioned, the wide bottoms allow for easy packing of cereal, eggs, etc. The black color masks dust/dirt marks. We're a family of two and found that five bags weren't enough for our weekly purchases. (We buy primarily fresh or frozen products that require more space.) Seven bags would be perfect. This bag isn't a bargain compared with others out there and it isn't as strong as the $1 bags I've picked up at Meijer. However, the Meijer bags are made in China of synthetic materials. These are made in India with the fair trade label--one hopes that this doesn't simply mean they make $1.50/day rather than $1/day. And they're 100% cotton. I bought these for co-workers for Christmas. They're nice, but I think that one can do better without buying environmentally offensive or Chinese goods. However, I'm not displeased.
