Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Cuisipro Donvier Yogurt Cheese Maker

Customer Review: Better than draining through a coffee filter
Summary: 5 Stars

Put away the open bowl under a coffee filter in a strainer. This yogurt cheese maker will replace that. It's a self-contained box with a fitted strainer and snap-close lid.

It's easy and convenient. Place the strainer in the box, scoop the yogurt into the strainer, put the lid on and let it drip overnight or longer depending how thick you like yogurt cheese. Then add your own fruit or flavorings. I like lemon zest mixed into mine. And maple syrup is wonderful too!

Customer Review: Like Greek-style yogurt?
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this here because it was A.) $10 cheaper than the catalogue and B.) I like Greek-style yogurt, and can't get it here!
I use a non-fat yogurt and have this baby making yogurt cheese all the time. I is a great way to make a sour-cream like topper, and great yogurt and fruit breakfast treats.
Easy to use and clean. Skip the cookbook that is recommended with it, the recipes are not the greatest (I tried the egg-extender scrambler~yuck!!)
Good product!

Customer Review: I make homemade yogurt...
Summary: 5 Stars

... and this item works just fine. However, I add six tablespoons of powered milk to my starter before I "cook" the yogurt if I'm going to make cheese from it. It's thicker that way. I omit the powdered milk if I plan to use the yogurt for smoothies. I do recommend draining the whey several times during the 24 hours, more frequently during the early hours, if you are using homemade yogurt. You will be surprised at how much and how quickly it will accumulate.

Customer Review: Easy item
Summary: 5 Stars

In the past, I've used cheesecloth to take the whey out of yogurt, this product makes it easier. Thick yogurt is used for many sauces, also for coating items such as lamb before roasting in an oven. The cheesecloth method is messy, and you also have to worry about the yogurt picking up odors and flavors from your fridge. The tupperware type container eliminates that problem. This is a great product.

Customer Review: Simple. Perfect.
Summary: 5 Stars

Yogurt goes in, whey filters out, creamy yogurt cheese results. There isn't much to it. It just works well; no more messy bundles of cheesecloth suspended in my refrigerator.

The only trick I found to it is that if you yogurt is too thin, some of it will seep through the mesh at first. I use store bought yogurt and scoop some thick unstirred spoonfuls out to line the bottom before stirring some salt into the rest and pouring it on top.
