Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Cuisipro Donvier Yogurt Cheese Maker

Customer Review: Works wonderfully!
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm lactose intolerant, but seem to be able to tolerate homemade yogurt just fine. What a nice treat to create a delicious (and for me, totally digestible) spreadable "cheese"! Sometimes I add herbs, or stir in a little all-fruit-jam, and make something amazingly delicious and low fat to spread on my toast and bagels. I wish I had discovered this years ago. The only thing I'm more excited about is my homemade Salton yogurt maker, which I also bought here on Amazon.com.... I make homemade yogurt almost every other day now. Easy, no preservatives, lots of healthy live cultures...Salton YM9 1-Quart Yogurt Maker

Customer Review: Great labane maker - But that's not enough for real labane
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a fast easy way to make labane cheese. The traditional way involves seething the yogurt through a hanging bag of cheese cloth or any cloth to the same effect(the secret is to rub salt on the outside of the cheese cloth to prevent the cheese cloth from smelling). But this product allows simplifying the procedure and allow it to take place in the fridge.
Even though I am very satisfied with the product the labane didn't come out quite like I am used to and like, and I attribute it to the quality of the yogurts in the states. But I haven't yet tried it with yogurt I made myself or with a real yogurt from the middle east. The yogurts here are just not sour enough.

Customer Review: Very nice item!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have tried making yogurt cheese the "old way" with a colander, cheesecloth, etc., and found it to be messy and not worthwhile. I have to echo the sentiments of others here that this is a much better way. Takes up less space in the fridge, cleans up very easily, more sanitary, and the sealed container keeps out refrigerator odors. Plus I found that the draining screen's wave design bottom seems to help speed up the draining process when compared to the "old way." The result is a nice, compact product with fewer soggy spots. Definitely worth the price, you probably won't find it cheaper anywhere else, and it seems to be very durable, too.

Customer Review: Wow! This stuff is good!
Summary: 5 Stars

I had never tried yogurt cheese before, but I was intrigued by the idea. Making the yogurt cheese was simple with this device - just fill with yogurt and leave it in the fridge. The product seems sturdy and was easy to clean. We grow our own raspberries, and I have been eating them with ice cream. Last night I tried eating them with non-fat yogurt cheese sweetened with a bit of sugar. It was delicious and much healthier! Yogurt cheese is a good source of calcium and protein - half a cup has 85 calories, 10 grams protein, 10 grams carbohydrate, and 235 mg calcium. It would be great for layering with fruit in parfaits.

Customer Review: easy and tasty
Summary: 5 Stars

I have used this for about 4 months now. I really like the ease of use and clean up. I don't think mine has made out of fridge since I purchased it. I always have something "cooking" in it.

Sour cream vs Cream Cheese really depends only on the tartness of your yogurt and the amount of time you let it drain. Any and all possible add ins make this very versatile. Add Cheddar Cheese and diced jalopena's to a tart yogurt and let drain about 6 hours for a nice Mexican Potato topper or Add vanilla, honey and cinnamon to a sweeter yogurt that has drained for 24 hours for a yummy treat on your morning toast or bagel.
