I've learned to cross stitch using these dimensions stamped cross stitch kits. The stamped ones are easier then the counted ones if you are just starting. This particular kit is a little shorter then the other kits, because of the fact that it includes only 3 colors total. I would say that the instructions are adequate, and it tells you which colors go where. The needle has a somewhat small eye, but its nice and sharp which is suitable for this fabric.
Its good to learn to thread the needle - just take your thread (you must first separate 2-3 strands from the whole piece of thread, as explained in the instructions) and make sure the ends of the strands are aligned. Then, use your mouth to wet the ends of the thread, and this will make it easier to thread the needle. They even include a little piece you can cut out to assist you, although I didn't even need it. There is more then enough thread to complete the design.
Once you master the stamped cross stitch, then you can move onto counted cross stitch, and then you can even buy your own cloth and make a custom design.
Overall I would give this kit 4/5 stars. After doing several of these kits I now can cross stitch and I have made lots of my own designs. I would say dimensions is the best brand to learn with.
