My teen age son has loved fresh crinkle cut carrots since he was little and hate the canned ones. For years I have used a little cutter from a assortment set, which made cutting slow and difficult. I searched for a new cutter and found the positive reviews on this cutter. I bought two of them hoping to get my son or wife in on the kitchen prep chores and half the prep time.
The cutter is build solid with a large handle. The only down side might be if some one has small hands they may find the handle a bit large although it probably could be handled like any other large knife in the kitchen. This cutter just came in, I had to remove the bar code sticker and they left a sticky residue on the handle. I've got them in the dishwasher now, so they should be able to handle any veg. I also plan on making ravioli and I'm guessing this cutter will be able to handle cutting and sealing a sheet of pasta of the filling spread across it.
I always try to buy quality solid tools that will last even if the price is higher. At the price they sell these for I'm surprise they are build very solid and expect them to last for years. I don't have the description in front of me while reviewing, but I beleive the handle is wooden, so once I give the cutter an initial dish washing, I will be washing it in the sink from now on to keep the handle from shrinking and separating.
